Homo‐ and Heteroleptic Hypersilylcuprates — Valuable Reagents for the Synthesis of Molecular Compounds with a Cu−Si Bond

Unsolvated hypersilanides MHyp [Hyp = Si(SiMe3)(3)] of the heavier alkali metals (M-I = Na, K, Cs) react with copper tert-butoxide in toluene to yield crystalline heteroleptic cuprates [M-I(toluene)][tBuOCuHyp]. These cuprates proved to be valuable sources for pure hypersilylcopper and other cuprates bearing hypersilyl ligands such as the di(hypersilyl)cuprates M-I[CuHyp(2)]((C) Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, 69451 Weinheim, Germany, 2003).

Tungsten(VI) complexes formed in an excess of gluconic acid: A polarimetric and spectrophotometric study

The tungsten(VI)-gluconic acid system in an excess of this organic reagent has been spectroscopically and polarimetrically studied and four species, two mononuclear with stoichiometry 1∶2 (metal∶ligand) and two dinuclear with composition 2∶2, have been identified. The non-formation of a binuclear species with stoichiometry 2∶1 (metal∶ligand) demonstrates some preference towards coordination of carboxylate group.

Flow-Injection Spectrophotometric Determination of Phenolic Drugs and Carbamate Pesticides by Coupling with Diazotized 2,4,6-Trimethylaniline

Abstract A flow-injection (FI) spectrophotometric system is proposed for the determination of phenols and carbamates. In the FI manifolds, the solutions of phenols or carbamates (the latter after hydrolysis with NaOH) were injected into a diazonium ion carrier stream at pH 9.5 (buffered with tetrahydroborate), which was formed by mixing 2,4,6-trimethylaniline (TMA) with nitrate in a sodium dodecyl sulfate aqueous micellar medium. Kinetic experiments are often followed by spectroscopic measurements in the visible or near ultraviolet region. The advantage is not only that the results can be recorded continuously, which makes very fast reactions accessible, but also that very low concentrations of substrates can be used. This means that only very small amounts are required and, more important perhaps, that reagents can be used in excess. Thus pseudomonomolecular conditions and first-order kinetics often can be achieved easily.

In vitro and in vivo characterization of porcine acellular dermal matrix for gingival augmentation procedures

Recently, porcine acellular dermal matrix (PADM) has been proposed as a possible alternative to autogenous grafts in periodontal plastic surgery. The aim of the present study was to investigate the in vitro responses of four different oral cell lines cultured on a novel PADM. Furthermore, tissue reaction to PADM was evaluated histologically after subcutaneous implantation in mice.Human gingival fibroblasts (HGF), human osteoblast-like cells, human umbilical vein endothelial cells and human oral keratinocytes (HOK) were cultured and transferred on to the PADM. The retention behaviour of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) using micellar mobile phases of sodium dodecylsulphate (SDS) is studied and compared with that observed with micellar mobile phases of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB). A liquid chromatographic procedure for the determination of acemetacin, diclofenac, indomethacin, ketoprofen, naproxen and tolmetin in pharmaceutical preparations is described. The proposed system uses a Kromasil C18 analytical column and a solution of 0.15 M SDS at pH 3 with 10% 1-propanol as mobile phase. Colonic drug delivery: influence of cross-linking agent on pectin beads properties and role of the shell capsule type.

This study investigated the influence of the cross-linking agent (calcium or zinc) and the type of shell capsule used (classical or enteric capsules) on pectin beads properties and on their performance to target the colon (in vitro dissolution studies with subsequent pH change to mimic overall gastro-intestinal tract).
