HDR Imaging Pipeline for Spectral Filter Array Cameras

2017

Multispectral single shot imaging systems can benefit computer vision applications in needs of a compact and affordable imaging system. Spectral filter arrays technology meets the requirement, but can lead to artifacts due to inhomogeneous intensity levels between spectral channels due to filter manufacturing constraints, illumination and object properties. One solution to solve this problem is to use high dynamic range imaging techniques on these sensors. We define a spectral imaging pipeline that incorporates high dynamic range, demosaicing and color image visualization. Qualitative evaluation is based on real images captured with a prototype of spectral filter array sensor in the visible…

Occurrence and timing of complications following traumatic dental injuries: A retrospective study in a dental trauma department

2016

Background This study explores the pattern of complications occurrence resulting from traumatic dental injuries, the relation of this pattern to the number of years from the time of the injury to its first diagnosis, and other contributing characteristics such as root development and trauma characteristic. Material and Methods Patients’ data treated following dental trauma from 2002 to 2014 were classified and grouped according to age, gender, tooth type, injury type, diagnosis and the time that elapsed between the traumatic event and the diagnosis of complications (TIC). The distribution function of the quantitative parameters was determined with the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. Fisher exact t…

Therapeutic use of hyaluronic acid fillers in the treatment of corticosteroid-induced skin and subcutaneous atrophy

2016

Corticosteroid injection–related tissue atrophy might cause permanent skin and soft tissue deformities1 due to several factors, most importantly fibroblast inhibition and decreased Type I collagen synthesis. Correction of these deformities is challenging and is mostly based on volume replacement with lipofilling or other methods. Clinical observations and research have shown that injection of stabilized hyaluronic acid (HA) induces collagen synthesis, partially restoring dermal matrix components, and eventually producing a permanent effect.2–5 Based on these data, we hypothesize that HA injections might successfully treat atrophic tissue changes caused by corticosteroid injection. We descri…

Patch testing in children--recommendations of the German Contact Dermatitis Research Group (DKG).

2007

Summary Allergic contact dermatitis occurs frequently in children. Patch testing is needed to identify the responsible allergens and should be performed in children. We recommend a panel of 12 contact allergens as a standard series in children from 6–12 years. Four additional contact allergens should be tested in case of a positive history or suggestive clinical picture. For patch testing in children, the allergens should be applied for 24 hours and the readings should be performed at 48 and 72 hours. Standardized patch testing makes it possible to systematically investigate allergic contact dermatitis and identify relevant allergens in children.

Clinical, Microscopic and Ultrastructural Findings in a Case of Short Anagen Syndrome

2017

Short anagen syndrome is an uncommon and recently described disease characterized by many telogen hairs and short maximum hair length. We report here the case of a 3-year-old girl whose short, sparse, fine hair since birth was consistent with short anagen syndrome. X-ray microanalysis demonstrated normal composition of the main bioelements of her hairs.

A cross‐sectional, multi‐center study on treatment of facial acne scars with low‐energy double‐pass 1450‐nm diode laser

2020

Acne scars are the ultimate outcome of acne vulgaris, a prevalent skin disorder affecting the pilo-sebaceous unit. Laser resurfacing has been demonstrated to be an efficient therapy option for acne scars. Hence, we adopted this concept and conducted a study to evaluate the safety and efficacy of low-energy double-pass 1450-nm diode laser on acne scars. This study was conducted on 48 patients with acne scars, treated at 4-week interval with low-energy double-pass 1450-nm diode laser. Patients were evaluated clinically and with photographs, at day 0, first month and third month post the final treatment and during follow-up visit. Five treatment sessions were completed by all patients. Approxi…

Review of biologics in allergic contact dermatitis

2020

The resistant and recalcitrant nature of severe allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) makes its management challenging. With advances in the understanding of the cellular and molecular pathogenesis of ACD, newer therapeutic targets are becoming apparent. In particular, the use of biologics has gained momentum, given the specificity of their action. This article aims to review the presently available data on the use of biologics in ACD. English-language-based literature available on the use of biological therapy was thoroughly probed in the following databases as on October 14, 2019: PubMed, Google Scholar, The Cochrane library, Embase, Scopus, and EBSCO. The following keywords were used: "conta…

Allergic contact dermatitis in patients with frontal fibrosing alopecia: An international multi‐center study

2020

Frontal fibrosing alopecia (FFA) mainly affects the anterior hairline and eyebrows and its etiology and associated factors remain obscure. The aim of this study was to evaluate the allergic contact dermatitis with patch test in patients with FFA. In this prospective study, 20 patients with FFA and 24 age and sex-matched healthy individuals were evaluated with patch testing. Diagnosis was made histologically, clinically and based on dermoscopic findings. Demographic data, age of onset, disease duration and FFA severity index are evaluated in all patients. Positive patch test reaction to one or more allergen was observed in 65% of patients while it was 37.5% in control group (P = .003). There…

Digoxin-related leukocytoclastic vasculitis in a very elderly woman: A case report

2016

International audience; Even though digoxin causes many side effects, few cases of skin involvement are recorded in the French Pharmacovigilance Database. We report a case of leukocytoclastic vasculitis (LV) very probably due to digoxin. A 91-year-old woman, hospitalized following a fall, presented cardiac decompensation in a context of rapid atrial fibrillation requiring treatment with digoxin. Eight days later, a rash appeared on her back and trunk. It was neither itchy, nor painful and persisted despite local treatment. There were no other clinical anomalies. After a few days, the rash spread with appearance of bullous lesions, ulcerations and a necrosis on lymphedema of the two legs. Am…
