Cardiac modulation of startle is altered in depersonalization-/derealization disorder: Evidence for impaired brainstem representation of baro-afferen…
2016
Patients with depersonalization-/derealization disorder (DPD) show altered heartbeat-evoked brain potentials, which are considered psychophysiological indicators of cortical representation of visceral-afferent neural signals. The aim of the current investigation was to clarify whether the impaired CNS representation of visceral-afferent neural signals in DPD is restricted to the cortical level or is also present in sub-cortical structures. We used cardiac modulation of startle (CMS) to assess baro-afferent signal transmission at brainstem level in 22 DPD and 23 healthy control individuals. The CMS paradigm involved acoustic startle stimuli (105dB(A), 50ms) elicited 0, 100, 200, 300, 400 and…
Nonsmooth Optimization Methods
1999
From the previous chapters we know that after the discretization, elliptic and parabolic hemivariational inequalities can be transformed into substationary point type problems for locally Lipschitz superpotentials and as such will be solved. There is a class of mathematical programming methods especially developed for this type of problems. The aim of this chapter is to give an overview of nonsmooth optimization techniques with special emphasis on the first and the second order bundle methods. We present their basic ideas in the convex case and necessary modifications for nonconvex optimization. We shall use them in the next chapter for the numerical realization of several model examples. L…
Experimental benchmarking of quantum control in zero-field nuclear magnetic resonance
2017
Zero-field nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) provides complementary analysis modalities to those of high-field NMR and allows for ultra-high-resolution spectroscopy and measurement of untruncated spin-spin interactions. Unlike for the high-field case, however, universal quantum control -- the ability to perform arbitrary unitary operations -- has not been experimentally demonstrated in zero-field NMR. This is because the Larmor frequency for all spins is identically zero at zero field, making it challenging to individually address different spin species. We realize a composite-pulse technique for arbitrary independent rotations of $^1$H and $^{13}$C spins in a two-spin system. Quantum-inform…
A Formal Model for Developing of the self-Diagosing and Self-Repairing 8-Bits Microprocessor, and Its Investigation Using Simulation
1986
Abstract The complete model of functional diagnostics is theoretically described. It specifies the conditions, which must be satisfied if the system to be self-diagnosable. The general principles of constructing self-diagnosable systems are enumerated. The model enables the realization of self-renewal, too. The model has been developed on the basis of the works by Preparata, Metze, Chien (1967) and Hakimi, Amin (1974) . The model contains a method of diagnostics completely separeted from the physical structure of the system. Recent results (Gruber, 1978; Swiatek, 1982) indicate that it is only necessary to know the set of transformations realized by the circuit. The model has been applied t…
An inductive charger for automotive applications
2016
The inductive charging represents a valid solution for the power transfer in automotive applications. Due to the Inductive Power Transfer (IPT), the wireless battery charging of Electric Vehicles (EVs) provides several benefits. In this paper, an inductive charger which is particularly suitable for electrical bicycles is proposed. A practical realization of the system has been carried out, and the system has been tested in terms of working and efficiency. Through a Phase Shift Modulation (PSM), a power regulation has been implemented. The target power is 100 W.
Efficient contactless power transfer system for EVs
2016
Based on the inductive power transfer (IPT), the contactless approach allows safe and comfortable operations of battery charging for Electric Vehicles (EVs). In this paper, a contactless system particularly suitable for E-bike battery charging is proposed. A practical realization of the system has been carried out, aiming at the system evaluation in terms of working and efficiency. Through a phase shift modulation, a power regulation has been implemented. The target power level is 100 W.

Managing Benefits in the Public Sector. Surveying Expectations and Outcomes in Norwegian Government Agencies
2008
Published version of a chapter in Lecture Notes in Computer Science, 5184, 98-110. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-540-85204-9_9 Government agencies currently experience increasing pressure to document benefits from spending on eGovernment efforts. Hence, structured methods for benefits management (BM) are being developed. However, hardly any studies have investigated how such approaches are used and experienced. This study addresses this practice-research gap by reporting a study of a project involving 30 Norwegian government agencies using a common BM approach.A questionnaire was answered by project managers. Results show that that some 80 % of the ma…
Prevalence, correlates, and predictors of depersonalization experiences in the German general population.
2009
The survey aimed to investigate the prevalence of depersonalization (DP) experiences, its sociodemographic characteristics and its associations with medical conditions, illness behavior, and potential etiologic factors. A representative face-to-face household survey was conducted. The sample consists of n = 1,287 participants aged 14 to 90 years. Sociodemographic variables, medical conditions, current mental disorders, health care utilization, and childhood adversities were assessed. A total of 1.9% participants scored in the range of clinically significant DP (DP-C) and 9.7% reported at least some impairment through DP (DP-I). DP-C/DP-I were strongly associated with depression and anxiety.…
