Linear ViscoElastic (LVE) Behaviour of Pure Bitumen via Fractional Model

AbstractBy fitting experimental data from static creep/recovery carried out on pure bitumen, it is shown that the fractional model proposed enables the description of both creep and recovery behaviour with fewer parameters than those needed by other models in the literature. In particular, the model is fitted to experimental data of complex modulus |G*| and phase angle δ° obtained from Dynamic Mechanical Analysis. Lastly, it is demonstrated that when the fractional model is used, complex modulus isotherms for a range of frequencies can be created simply starting from isochronals at f = 1Hz.

Managing Municipal Solid Waste: Energetic and Environmetal Comparison among different options

Goal. This research aims to assess the environmental effects of integrated strategies in a municipal waste management system. In particular, analysis is focused on a waste stream in Palermo, where landfill involves the prompt disposal of the most waste after collection. Hydraulic turbines for energy recovery in wastewater treatment plants, with relatively large discharges values and small head jumps, are usually screw Archimedes or Kaplan types. Abstract During alkaline pulping of wood, substantial amounts of carbohydrates-derived aliphatic carboxylic acids (formic and acetic acids together with various hydroxy acids) are formed and dissolved into the cooking liquor (“black liquor”).
