La Ley de Confesiones y Congregaciones Religiosas, aprobada el 17 de mayo de 1933 por las Cortes de la II República española, prohibió que la Iglesia continuase ejerciendo la enseñanza. La medida despertó la indignación de diversos actores conservadores: políticos, obispos y líderes de organizaciones católicas. Su objetivo fue la derogación de la ley y, para ello, dedicaron grandes esfuerzos a activar la reacción de los católicos. Valorization of alginate for the production of hydrogen via catalytic aqueous phase reforming

Abstract Alginate, a carbohydrate abundant in the outer cell wall of macroalgae, was subjected to catalytic aqueous phase reforming (APR) to produce hydrogen using a 3% Pt/C commercial catalyst. The performance of the process was evaluated according to the conversion of the carbon to gas, the hydrogen yield and the hydrogen selectivity. The catalyst and feed amount, temperature, reaction time, pH and the presence of H2 were modified to understand the dependence of the outcome of the process on these parameters. The presence of the catalyst was fundamental in order to increase the hydrogen yield compared to the uncatalyzed reaction, and it can be reused without activity loss. In addition, it…

Este artículo tiene por objeto analizar el encuentro entre Valdismo y Reforma, y la trasformación del movimiento herético medieval en iglesia reformada a través del examen de dos confesiones de fe: la Declaración del Sínodo de Chanforan (1532), por medio de la cual se determina la incorporación de los valdenses a la Reforma, y la Confesión de fe valdense de 1655, en la que podemos relevar los rasgos de una iglesia ya claramente definida, provista de una doctrina, una organización y una disciplina eclesiástica marcadamente protestantes.
Circumventing deadlock through venue-shopping: Why there is more than just talk in US immigration politics in times of economic crisis

This article addresses the question of how the financial and economic crisis that hit the US in the late 2000s impacted immigration policies. We find that the crisis has not significantly changed dynamics. Instead, it has highlighted and aggravated persisting trends. Drawing on Kingdon’s multiple streams model and combining it with the notion of two-level games, we find that while the policy stream and the problem stream would call for both restrictive and liberalising changes, the political stream impedes change: The fact that Congress has been divided for a long time over Comprehensive Immigration Reform (CIR) impedes any restrictive or liberalising changes. The current Law 49/2002 on the tax regime of non-profit entities and tax incentives for patronage was born out of the declared will to establish a set of incentives applicable to patronage activity in general and, in particular, to cultural patronage. However, the practical application to date of this commendable principle has been shown to be a mere normative proposition. The Autonomous Communities of the Balearic Islands, the Valencian Community and Castilla-La Mancha have enacted laws on tax incentives for cultural patronage that could resolve, within the scope of their competences, some difficulties encountered with state regulations.
