Obchody upamiętniające 500-lecie Reformacji w wielu miejscach na świecie zostały uroczyście rozpoczęte dnia 31. października 2016 r. Jest to dzień w którym Marcin Luter upublicznił swoje tezy, w oparciu o które zamierzał rozpocząć wielką debatę na temat istotnych kierunków reformy Kościoła.
