Quaternary glaciations in Antarctica drastically modified geographical ranges and population sizes of marine benthic invertebrates and thus affected the amount and distribution of intraspecific genetic variation. Here, we present new genetic information in the Antarctic limpet Nacella concinna, a dominant Antarctic benthic species along shallow ice-free rocky ecosystems. We examined the patterns of genetic diversity and structure in this broadcast spawner along maritime Antarctica and from the peri-Antarctic island of South Georgia. Forty-three forest sites in seven sampling areas in mountainous parts of Transylvania were sampled to obtain inventories of their snail faunas, and to make comparisons between these and the faunas of similar sites further north along the Carpathian chain. Sampling areas ran from close to the Ukrainian border in the north to Retezat in the south-west. Altogether, 83 species were found, and between 19 and 40 species at individual sites. Sites within the same sampling area had more species in common than in among-area comparisons, but differences between areas did not relate to distance between them. Extant phylogeographic patterns of Palearctic terrestrial vertebrates are generally believed to have originated from glacial range fragmentation. Post-Pleistocene range expansions have led to the formation of secondary contact zones among genetically distinct taxa. For coal tits (Periparus ater), such a contact zone has been localized in Germany. In this study, we quantified gene flow between Fennoscandian and southern European coal tits using a set of 13 microsatellite loci. Serpentine soils harbour a unique flora that is rich in endemics. We examined the evolution of serpentine endemism in Minuartia laricifolia, which has two ecologically distinct subspecies with disjunct distributions: subsp. laricifolia on siliceous rocks in the western Alps and eastern Pyrenees and subsp. ophiolitica on serpentine in the northern Apennines. We analysed AFLPs and chloroplast sequences from 30 populations to examine their relationships and how their current distributions and ecologies were influenced by Quaternary climatic changes. En este capítulo se presentan los principales resultados del trabajo de investigación sobre las redes sociales que establecen las mujeres colombianas, migrantes políticas y económicas, en la Comunidad Valenciana. Este estudio exploratorio se realizó entre 2008 y 2009 en el marco del Programa de Doctorado: Género, Subjetividad, Conocimiento y Cultura de la Universidad de Valencia. Des de l'any 1993 a València arriben xiquets i xiquetes de 6 a 13 anys d'edat per a passar els dos mesos d'estiu en famílies d'acollida. Aquestos infants venen d'una part del desert del Sàhara, allà hi viuen des del 1976 com a refugiats, i on les oportunitats de subsistència i l'autosuficiència són limitades. En el pas del temps, s'ha observat que l'exposició de la població sahrauí a les característiques de la zona i la dependència pràcticament de forma exclusiva de l'ajuda externa, a compromès la salut dels més vulnerables, les dones i els més xicotets, i en conseqüència s'estan observant una sèrie de problemes, preocupants per a les autoritats sahrauís i per a la comunitat internacional i…
