This article concerns regional cuisine, mainly new ways of its presentation taking into account personal visions the preparation of certain dishes. Today, in culinary tourism there is a growing interest in regional dishes in fusion versions. The article is devoted to Silesian cuisine which has recently become the subject of various activities focused on new ways of presenting it and reflecting directly the current global trends in gastronomy. The topic of reflection undertaken herein are public events having an evident culinary character. In the first part of her essay, the author proposes a typology of culinary events, with special focus on those events which appear in the public space the most often. Their number and considerable complexity are associated with the target participant group, the current patterns of consumption, gastronomic styles, and finally with functions which have been ascribed to those events. The attention of the writer was attracted by the person of Konrad Mientus, who impressed with his passion of collecting all souvenirs, „props”, which passion became concrete in the form of an extremely valued and constantly visited regional chamber. A passion that was vivid from childhood was emphasized, and many examples of the Silesian regional chamber were referred to. Museum exhibits show the Opole region as a „smali homeland” of Poles and Germans - with all the complexity of the fate of its community, as well as the specificity of the Silesian culture, visible especially in tradition, dia- lect, customs and folk customs.

Structural and cohesion funds play a prominent role in European Union regional policy, which aims to reduce gaps in development between regions and disparities in well-being between European citizens. The regions and areas eligible for funding — 308,000 million during the 2007—13 period — are chosen according to regional GDP per inhabitant as the variable of reference.
