Autosomal dominant hypercholesterolemia (ADH) is a genetic disorder characterized by increased low-density lipoprotein (LDL)-cholesterol levels, leading to high risk of premature cardiovascular disease. More than 900 mutations in LDL receptor, six in APOB and 10 in PCSK9 have been identified as a cause of the disease in different populations. All known mutations in PCSK9 causing hypercholesterolemia produce an increase in the enzymatic activity of this protease. In this study, gene expression profiling of postmortem brain samples from prefrontal cortex of schizophrenic patients without AH (SNA), patients with AH (SA) and control subjects were compared. A collision in one dimension is provoked by allowing a bard body to drop from a given height onto the skin surface to be tested. Vascular modifications within a choroidal osteoma

We report a case of choroidal osteoma followed-up for 7 years. During this lapse of time the choroidal osteoma showed slight enlargement, development of subretinal hemorrhage and modifications of intratumoral vascularization. Some large intratumoral vessels visible at first examination disappeared at follow-up, while other vessels not observed before developed. The changes in the vascularization of the choroidal osteoma denote profound dynamics in the processes of osseous rearrangement of the tumor.

A newly developed portable multi-channel photoplethysmography (PPG) device has been used for comparative studies of 20 healthy control subjects and 45 patients with diagnosed arterial stenosis in a leg. The peripheral blood pulsations were detected simultaneously at four body sites-the same fingers and toes of both arms and legs. The PPG pulses recorded at the periphery of the stenotic leg, if compared with those of the healthy leg, were much weaker, with delayed arrival as a consequence of increased pulse wave transit time (PWTT) due to higher vascular resistance. Renal failure due to obstruction by a retroperitoneal hematoma is a rarely discussed complication in pelvic or acetabular fractures. Three cases of this obstructive uropathy are presented. They were successfully treated with removal of the hematoma and draining of the retroperitoneal space.

The study explores the geographical pattern of the accommodation industry in the Italian insular region of Sicily, focusing on the determinants of the risk of market exit. We adopt a standard framework of business survival analysis where agglomeration economies play an important role. We then extend the analysis by considering the role of geography to explore whether the risk of market exit depends on nearness to desirable amenities. The geography is here measured by the distance from the coast and the altitude of the place where the firm is located.
