High resolution 80Se(n,γ) cross section measurement at CERN n_TOF and development of the novel i-TED detection system

2022

Robust Active Disturbance Rejection Control of Induction Motor Systems Based on Additional Sliding-Mode Component

2017

This paper deals with motion control systems with induction motor, subject to severe requirements on both dynamics and steady-state behavior. The proposed control methodology could be viewed as an advancement of the standard field oriented control. It consists of two control loops, i.e., the rotor flux and the speed control loops, designed using the active disturbance rejection control method, with the aim to cope with both exogenous and endogenous disturbances, which are estimated by means of two linear extended state observers and then compensated. Moreover, with the aim of achieving total robustness, a sliding-mode based component is designed, in order to take into account disturbance es…

Transient stability analysis for symmetrical and unsymmetrical faults in mixed three-phase and six-phase power systems

1989

Abstract The aim of this paper is to analyse the transient stability of a three-phase power system with six-phase lines interconnected by three-phase to six-phase transformers. For these mixed power systems a transient stability analysis is performed under all main types of disturbances (short-circuits, generator and load rejection, line outages), particularly in the case of faults at six-phase buses. A generalized procedure to evaluate transient stability is explained in detail. It is based on the symmetrical components method, which allows one to consider also unsymmetrical faults both at three-phase and six-phase buses. For every possible unsymmetrical short-circuit an equivalent fault a…

Active power analog front-end based on a Wheatstone-type magnetoresistive sensor

2011

Abstract In the proposed work a practical magnetoresistive wattmeter based on a commercial sensor is designed to measure active power at industrial frequencies. The electronic conditioning circuit uses differential blocks in order to preserve the sensor initial common mode rejection ratio. A 700 W power level has been reached with an uncertainty less than 1%. With few changes the proposed circuitry could be used in metering applications.

Preparation of fouling resistant and highly perm-selective novel PSf/GO-vanillin nanofiltration membrane for efficient water purification

2022

International audience; To meet the rising global demand for water, it is necessary to develop membranes capable of efficiently purifying contaminated water sources. Herein, we report a series of novel polysulfone (PSf)/GO-vanillin nanofiltration membranes highly permeable, selective, and fouling resistant. The membranes are composed of two-dimensional (2D) graphite oxide (GO) layers embedded with vanillin as porogen and PSf as the base polymer. There is a growing interest in addressing the synergistic effect of GO and vanillin on improving the permeability and antifouling characteristics of membranes. Various spectroscopic and microscopic techniques were used to perform detailed physicoche…

Adaptive independent sticky MCMC algorithms

2018

In this work, we introduce a novel class of adaptive Monte Carlo methods, called adaptive independent sticky MCMC algorithms, for efficient sampling from a generic target probability density function (pdf). The new class of algorithms employs adaptive non-parametric proposal densities which become closer and closer to the target as the number of iterations increases. The proposal pdf is built using interpolation procedures based on a set of support points which is constructed iteratively based on previously drawn samples. The algorithm's efficiency is ensured by a test that controls the evolution of the set of support points. This extra stage controls the computational cost and the converge…

Parsimonious adaptive rejection sampling

2017

Monte Carlo (MC) methods have become very popular in signal processing during the past decades. The adaptive rejection sampling (ARS) algorithms are well-known MC technique which draw efficiently independent samples from univariate target densities. The ARS schemes yield a sequence of proposal functions that converge toward the target, so that the probability of accepting a sample approaches one. However, sampling from the proposal pdf becomes more computationally demanding each time it is updated. We propose the Parsimonious Adaptive Rejection Sampling (PARS) method, where an efficient trade-off between acceptance rate and proposal complexity is obtained. Thus, the resulting algorithm is f…

Grapham: Graphical models with adaptive random walk Metropolis algorithms

2008

Recently developed adaptive Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) methods have been applied successfully to many problems in Bayesian statistics. Grapham is a new open source implementation covering several such methods, with emphasis on graphical models for directed acyclic graphs. The implemented algorithms include the seminal Adaptive Metropolis algorithm adjusting the proposal covariance according to the history of the chain and a Metropolis algorithm adjusting the proposal scale based on the observed acceptance probability. Different variants of the algorithms allow one, for example, to use these two algorithms together, employ delayed rejection and adjust several parameters of the algorithm…

Foundations for the formalization of metamathematics and axiomatizations of consequence theories

2004

Abstract This paper deals with Tarski's first axiomatic presentations of the syntax of deductive system. Andrzej Grzegorczyk's significant results which laid the foundations for the formalization of metalogic, are touched upon briefly. The results relate to Tarski's theory of concatenation, also called the theory of strings, and to Tarski's ideas on the formalization of metamathematics. There is a short mention of author's research in the field. The main part of the paper surveys research on the theory of deductive systems initiated by Tarski, in particular research on (i) the axiomatization of the general notion of consequence operation, (ii) axiom systems for the theories of classic conse…
