This paper describes the contents of the 2016 edition of the HITRAN molecular spectroscopic compilation. The new edition replaces the previous HITRAN edition of 2012 and its updates during the intervening years. The HITRAN molecular absorption compilation is composed of five major components: the traditional line-by-line spectroscopic parameters required for high-resolution radiative-transfer codes, infrared absorption cross-sections for molecules not yet amenable to representation in a line-by-line form, collision-induced absorption data, aerosol indices of refraction, and general tables such as partition sums that apply globally to the data. In the process of learning a new computer language, writing erroneous statements is part of the learning experience. However, some errors persist throughout the query writing process and are never corrected. Structured Query Language (SQL) consists of a number of different concepts such as expressions, joins, grouping and ordering, all of which by nature invite different possible errors in the query writing process. Furthermore, some of these errors are relatively easy for a student to fix when compared to others. RDB2OWL is a simple approach of mapping relational databases into independently developed OWL ontologies. The approach is based on creating a mapping RDB schema, filling it with mapping information from which SQL scripts are generated that perform the instance-level transformation. We describe the RDB2OWL mapping schema and report on successful application of the technology to the migration of Latvian medical registries data.

We first consider the situation in which the decision-maker is allowed to have five choices with purpose to choose exactly the five absolute best candidates fromN applicants. The optimal stopping rule and the maximum probability of making the right five-choice are given for largeN eN, the maximum asymptotic value of the probability of the best choice being limN→∝P (win) ≈ 0.104305. Then, we study the general problem of selecting thek best of a sequence withk stops, constructing first a rough solution for this problem. Online visibility of a cultural site can be considered a strong indicator of the institutional ability to activate the cultural heritage. With the spread of the Internet into social practices of millions of people, the search for contents relating to a travel destination or a specific monument, has gradually shifted in terms of strategic influence from traditional channels to online information resources. The public opinion on the quality of cultural heritages or events depends less and less from the assessment of traditional agencies and it is instead increasingly dependent on user reviews and rankings based on social network sharing activities.

In this work we propose a knowledge discovery methodology to retrieve useful and novel information from raw data stored in a DBMS.
