Treatment of Vaginal Trichomoniasis with a Single Dose of Tinidazole

SummaryTwenty-two patients with proven vaginal trichomoniasis were treated with a single dose of 2 g. tinidazole. Twenty-one patients were cured, at both the early and the late follow-up visits. No side-effects were noted and no abnormalities of the clinical laboratory parameters were found in the trial. A historical comparison with published works was carried out and the results compared favourably with those found in the literature for tinidazole as well as for other agents used in a similar fashion.

Summary Objectives When patients are admitted to intensive care units, families are affected. This study aimed to illuminate the meaning of being taken care of by nurses and physicians for relatives in Norwegian intensive care units. Research methodology/design Thirteen relatives of critically ill patients treated in intensive care units in southern Norway were interviewed in autumn 2013. Interview data were analysed using a phenomenological hermeneutical method inspired by the philosopher Paul Ricoeur. A solid-phase ELISA was set up to measure the direct binding capacity (BC) of different, commercially available, purified human IgA preparations to plates coated with human fibronectin (FN). It was found that secretory, polymeric, and, to a much lesser extent, monomeric IgA exhibited elevated FN-BC as compared to their BC to plates coated with bovine serum albumin. This binding was specific since not observed with human IgG or IgM antibodies. This study evaluated the effects of a short video feedback intervention aimed at enhancing maternal sensitivity and the development of infants from low-income families in a randomized controlled trial. Forty-four mother-infant dyads living in low-income communities from Salvador, Brazil were randomly assigned between intervention and control groups.
