Galactic Magnetic Fields As a Consequence of Inflation

The generation of a magnetic field in the Early Universe is considered, due to the gravitational production of the Z-boson field during inflation. Scaled to the epoch of galaxy formation this magnetic field suffices to trigger the galactic dynamo and explain the observed galactic magnetic fields. The mechanism is independent of the inflationary model.
Cosmology of the Planck Era from a Renormalization Group for Quantum Gravity

Homogeneous and isotropic cosmologies of the Planck era before the classical Einstein equations become valid are studied taking quantum gravitational effects into account. The cosmological evolution equations are renormalization group improved by including the scale dependence of Newton's constant and of the cosmological constant as it is given by the flow equation of the effective average action for gravity. It is argued that the Planck regime can be treated reliably in this framework because gravity is found to become asymptotically free at short distances. Spiral Inflation

We propose a novel scenario of primordial inflation in which the inflaton goes through a spiral motion starting from around the top of a symmetry breaking potential. We show that, even though inflation takes place for a field value much smaller than Planck scale, it is possible to obtain relatively large tensor to scalar ratio ($r \sim 0.1$) without fine tuning. The inflationary observables perfectly match Planck data.
BARYOGENESIS IN SUPERGRAVITY INFLATIONARY MODELS

Abstract Realistic N=1 supergravity theories with a gravitino mass of order 1 TeV require a period of inflation to dilute the gravitino abundance. Moreover, if the gravitino is unstable the reheat temperature is bounded to be no greater than O(108 GeV). We show that such models may still have acceptable rates of baryosynthesis and discuss possible mechanisms.
Eternal hilltop inflation

We consider eternal inflation in hilltop-type inflation models, favored by current data, in which the scalar field in inflation rolls off of a local maximum of the potential. Unlike chaotic or plateau-type inflation models, in hilltop inflation the region of field space which supports eternal inflation is finite, and the expansion rate $H_{EI}$ during eternal inflation is almost exactly the same as the expansion rate $H_*$ during slow roll inflation. Therefore, in any given Hubble volume, there is a finite and calculable expectation value for the lifetime of the "eternal" inflation phase, during which quantum flucutations dominate over classical field evolution. Birkhoff theorem and conformal Killing-Yano tensors

We analyze the main geometric conditions imposed by the hypothesis of the Jebsen-Birkhoff theorem. We show that the result (existence of an additional Killing vector) does not necessarily require a three-dimensional isometry group on two-dimensional orbits but only the existence of a conformal Killing-Yano tensor. In this approach the (additional) isometry appears as the known invariant Killing vector that the ${\cal D}$-metrics admit.

An alternative formulation of Classical Mechanics based on an analogy with Thermodynamics

We study new Legendre transforms in classical mechanics and investigate some of their general properties. The behaviour of the new functions is analyzed under coordinate transformations.When invariance under different kinds of transformations are considered, the new formulation is found to be completly equivalent to the usual Lagrangian formulation, recovering well established results like the conservation of the angular momentum. Furthermore, a natural generalization of the Poisson Bracket is found to be inherent to the formalism introduced. On the other hand, we find that with a convenient redefinition of the Lagrangian, $\mathcal{L}^{\prime}=-\mathcal{L}$, it is possible to establish an …
Particle creation by wormholes: A 1 + 1 model

The propagation of a free massless scalar field in a [Formula: see text]-dimensional Minkowski space modeling, a wormhole is considered. The wormhole model consists on two timelike trajectories, which represent the entrance and the exit of the wormhole, connected via some transfer function that specifies how incoming modes that reach the entrance are transferred to the exit. We find that particles and energy fluxes are generically produced except for transfer functions that represent global conformal transformations.
