Urinary Bladder Weight and Function in a Rat Model of Mild Hyperglycemia and Its Treatment With Dapagliflozin

Hypertrophy and dysfunction of the urinary bladder are consistently observed in animal models of type 1 and less consistently in those of type 2 diabetes. We have tested the effects of mild hyperglycemia (n = 10 per group) in a randomized, blinded study and, in a blinded pilot study, of type 2 diabetes (n = 6 per group) and its treatment with dapagliflozin (1 mg/kg per day) on weight, contraction, and relaxation of the rat bladder. Based on a combination of high-fat diet and a low dose of streptozotocin, animals in the main study reached a mean peak blood glucose level of about 300 mg/dl, which declined to 205 mg/dl at study end. The Role of Work-Nonwork Boundary Management in Work Stress Recovery

The aim of the present study conducted among 1,106 Finnish employees was to identify boundary management profiles based on cross-role interruption behaviors from work to nonwork and from nonwork to work. Adopting a person-oriented approach through latent profile analysis, 5 profiles were identified: Work Guardians (21% of the employees), Nonwork Guardians (14%), Integrators (25%), Separators (18%), and an Intermediate Group (22%). Abstract The soft-clustered vehicle-routing problem (SoftCluVRP) extends the classical capacitated vehicle-routing problem by one additional constraint: The customers are partitioned into clusters and feasible routes must respect the soft-cluster constraint, that is, all customers of the same cluster must be served by the same vehicle. Abstract This work focuses on a broad class of uncapacitated p-hub median problems that includes non-stop services and setup costs for the network structures. In order to capture both the single and the multiple allocation patterns as well as any intermediate case of interest, we consider the so-called r-allocation pattern with r denoting the maximum number of hubs a terminal can be allocated to. Solvent dependence of the νs(OD) bandshape in 2,6-dichlorophenol

Abstract The infrared bandshape of νs(OD) of 2,6-dichlorophenol is measured in a series of solvents of increasing polarity, and is quantitatively analysed. The bandshape is described in terms of band indices, moments, correlation functions and correlation times. A distinct solvent dependence of bandshape and relaxation parameters has been found. The changes of the νs(OD) bandshape with increasing solvent polarity are compared in detail with those obtained earlier for analogous solvents for νs(OH) of 2,6-dichlorophenol. The overall behaviour of the spectral and relaxation parameters is similar, but the changes are less distinct for the weaker OD ⋯ Cl bond.

Surface charges at the CaF2/water interface allow very fast intermolecular vibrational-energy transfer

Abstract We investigate the dynamics of water in contact with solid calcium fluoride, where at low pH, localized charges can develop upon fluorite dissolution. We use 2D surface‐specific vibrational spectroscopy to quantify the heterogeneity of the interfacial water (D2O) molecules and provide information about the sub‐picosecond vibrational‐energy‐relaxation dynamics at the buried solid/liquid interface. We find that strongly H‐bonded OD groups, with a vibrational frequency below 2500 cm−1, display very rapid spectral diffusion and vibrational relaxation; for weakly H‐bonded OD groups, above 2500 cm−1, the dynamics slows down substantially. The thermally stimulated relaxation (TSR) processes in CaF2, BaF2 and LiBaF3 crystals (X-ray irradiated at LNT or RT) have been investigated by means of the ionic conductivity, thermally stimulated (TS) ionic depolarization current (TSDC), TS current (TSC), TS luminescence (TSL) and thermal bleaching techniques. The ionic TSDC measurements evidence that under DC field fluorides accumulate large ionic space-charge (thermoelectric state is formed) as a result of the migrating anion interstitial and/or vacancy capture on defects. Renewable polyol obtained by microwave-assisted alcoholysis of epoxidized soybean oil: Preparation, thermal properties and relaxation process

[EN] The soybean oil polyol (SOP) use as feedstock in the polyurethane industry has been recently emphasized due to its excellent resistance to hydrolysis, which is also applicable in coatings and thermal insulation. In this article, the SOP was obtained by a very fast microwave-assisted alcoholysis of epoxidized soybean oil (ESO). The preparation method, thermal properties, and relaxation process were evaluated. High yields as opening and consumption epoxy group and selectivity of 99.8 mol%, 985 mol%, and 71.2 mol% were obtained.
