Analysis of the Non-Transparent In-Band Relays in the IEEE 802.16 Multi-Hop System

This paper presents extensive dynamic simulations of the non-transparent in-band relays working in the distributed scheduling mode. The simulation results show that in-band relays can improve noticeably the spectral efficiency without acquiring an additional radio spectrum. Also, packet transmission delays become smaller. An important outcome of the dynamic simulations is that it is very crucial to choose a correct relay zone size where the base station and relay nodes exchange data. Otherwise, throughput fairness of the whole system declines. It indicates an importance of the relay zone size adjustment algorithm that the base station must run.

On the Statistical Analysis of Equal Gain Combining over Multiple Double Rice Fading Channels in Cooperative Networks

This article analyzes the statistical properties of narrowband mobile-to-mobile (M2M) fading channels with equal gain combining (EGC) under line-of-sight (LOS) propagation conditions. Here, we study a dual-hop amplify-and-forward (AF)relay network. It is assumed that there can exist LOS components in the transmission links between the source mobile station and the destination mobile station via K mobile relays. Relay optics for enhanced integral imaging

Integral imaging provides with three-dimensional (3D) images. This technique works perfectly with incoherent light and does not need the use of any special glasses nor stabilization techniques. A Multi-Phase Decode-and-Forward Transmission Protocol in Cognitive Relay Networks: Outage Analysis and Relay Power Allocation

Consider an underlay cognitive relay network with multiple source and destination pairs and that a decode-and-forward scheme is adopted at the relay. We propose a multi-phase transmission protocol in this paper which involves cooperation among source, relay and destination nodes. Given perfect interference elimination before decoding at the destination nodes, we derive closed-form expressions for outage probability calculation over Rayleigh fading channels. Furthermore, the optimal relay power allocation factor which leads to minimal outage probability is determined. Numerical results reveal the conditions under which satisfactory performance can be achieved based on the proposed scheme.

Thalamic relay or cortico-thalamic processing? Old question, new answers.

Ascending and descending information is relayed through the thalamus via strong, “driver” pathways. According to our current knowledge, different driver pathways are organized in parallel streams and do not interact at the thalamic level. Using an electron microscopic approach combined with optogenetics and in vivo physiology, we examined whether driver inputs arising from different sources can interact at single thalamocortical cells in the rodent somatosensory thalamus (nucleus posterior, POm). Evidence of a New MoYpd1p Phosphotransferase Isoform in the Multistep Phosphorelay System of Magnaporthe oryzae

Different external stimuli are perceived by multiple sensor histidine kinases and transmitted by phosphorylation via the phosphotransfer protein Ypd1p in the multistep phosphorelay system of the high osmolarity glycerol signaling pathway of filamentous fungi. How the signal propagation takes place is still not known in detail since multiple sensor histidine kinase genes in most filamentous fungi are coded in the genome, whereas only one gene for Ypd1p exists. Enhanced viewing-angle integral imaging by multiple-axis telecentric relay system

One of the main limitations of integral imaging is the narrow viewing angle. This drawback comes from the limited field of view of microlenses during the pickup and display. We propose a novel all-optical technique which allows the substantial increase of the field of view of any microlens and therefore of the viewing angle of integral-imaging displays.
