Victimization and Peer and Parents Attachment: The Mediating Effect of Regulatory Emotional Self-Efficacy
2021
Studies of the Spanish adolescent population has concluded that victimization is related to lack of emotional regulation and impulse control. Therefore, if a victim is unable to recognize, understand and regulate their emotions, this can result in rejection by their peers. A cross-sectional study was conducted to examine regulatory emotional self-efficacy as a possible mediator in the association between peer and parents attachment and victimization. Adolescents (n = 563) completed Regulatory Emotional Self-Efficacy, Inventory of Parents and Peer Attachment and Kid at School questionnaires. Structural equation models (SEMs) were used to predict a latent variable of victimization with parent…
A multi-generational study on low-dose BPA exposure in Wistar rats: Effects on maternal behavior, flavor intake and development
2012
Bisphenol A (BPA) is a common endocrine disruptor found as an environmental and food contaminant. It exerts both developmental and behavioral effects, mainly when exposure occurs in early life. The aim of this study was to determine the multi-generational effects of chronic, human-relevant low-dose exposure to BPA on development, maternal behavior and flavor preference in Wistar rats. BPA was orally administered at a daily dose of 5 mu g/kg body weight to FO pregnant dams from the first day of gestation (GD 1) until the last day of lactation (LD 21), and then to Fl offspring from weaning (PND 21) to adulthood (PND 100). F2 offspring were not exposed. Development and clinical signs of toxici…
Construct validity and reliability of the Finnish version of the Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score
2018
Background The Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) is a commonly used knee assessment and outcome tool in both clinical work and research. However, it has not been formally translated and validated in Finnish. The purpose of this study was to translate and culturally adapt the KOOS questionnaire into Finnish and to determine its validity and reliability among Finnish middle-aged patients with knee injuries. Methods KOOS was translated and culturally adapted from English into Finnish. Subsequently, 59 patients with knee injuries completed the Finnish version of KOOS, Western Ontario and McMaster Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC), Short-Form 36 Health Survey (SF-36) and Numeric Pai…
Nanoparticles in Foods, Determination of
2013
This article discusses the state of the art in the identification and determination of nanoparticles in food. It is of utmost importance to determine, in addition to the particle-size distribution, the chemical composition as well as the physical and chemical properties of the nanomaterials within the sample. After a brief description of what nanomaterials are and how to classify them, sources and routes of nanomaterials to food are discussed. The article then follows the debate on legislative consideration, which has emerged very recently. Its main aim is to deliver information on how nanomaterials are determined in food because of the number of challenges that arise when analyzing food an…
Continuous-wave backward frequency doubling in periodically poled lithium niobate
2010
We report on backward second-harmonic-generation in bulk periodically poled congruent lithium niobate with a 3.2 microns period. A tunable continuous-wave Ti:sapphire laser allowed us exciting two resonant quasi-phase-matching orders in the backward configuration. The resonances were also resolved by temperature tuning and interpolated with standard theory to extract relevant information on the sample.
Prices in Mixed Cost Allocation Problems
2001
Abstract We consider mixed cost allocation problems, i.e., joint cost problems that involve two types of heterogeneous outputs, divisible and indivisible. The Aumann–Shapley price mechanism is extended to this setting. We also present a set of properties which characterize this cost sharing rule. General topological patterns of known drugs.
2001
Abstract Discriminating “drug-like” from “non-drug-like” compounds is a relatively emerging topic within the drug research. The basic assumption is that it is possible to obtain relevant information from structural features common to the known drugs, in order to discard a huge number of candidate chemical structures with low probability of becoming drugs. A graph-theoretical contribution to this subject is reported in this paper, by making exclusive use of linear relationships. The results suggest that it is possible to achieve a pattern of general pharmacological activity based on molecular topology. Conclusions are tentative pending verification of the results with larger compound librari…
