This compound paper presents the views of two Polish philosophers on the strong international pressures influencing the development of Polish philosophy in recent times. The first part, by Leszek Koczanowicz, treats the philosophical situation and problems of totalitarian Poland under the influence of Soviet Marxism, while the second part, by Adam Chmielewski, focuses on the main trends and difficulties of post-totalitarian Poland, dominated by Western influence.

I emphasize some of the contributions of contemporary authors that deal with the issue of humor from an ethical perspective, mainly: Ronald de Sousa, Joseph Boskin, John Morreall, Simon Critchley and Vittorio Hosle. Starting from their thoughts I defend that the «ethics of humor» has, at least, the following features: it helps us to recognize the ethical values in which we really believe, it detects the ethically incorrect humor that maintains stereotypes, it promotes the development of virtues, it criticize the vices of the society contributing to build a more ethical society, and justifies with adequate reasons the laughing that tries to improve ethically our society.

This article focuses on the controversial argument that Spanish Fascism, organized in the political party Falange Espanola (FE y de las JONS), can be interpreted as a form of political religion, understood in the sense of Emilio Gentile. The central thesis is that Spanish Fascism was a political religion during the Republican period, that is, from the time of its consolidation during the early 1930s to the beginning of the Civil War. In this paper I analyze the relationship between religious beliefs of individuals and their attitudes to certain moral and political issues. In some cases, certain behaviours of believers contradict the doctrines of the religions that they claim to profess, although they don’t feel less faithful. This dissonance between religious doctrines and beliefs of a religion’s followers can be explained through the concept of the privatization of religious beliefs, according to which at present, religious beliefs have lost their objectivity in the context of moral monism. Thus, the believers’ convictions are influenced by the social influences on the way the believer understand
