Revindication of religious organizations’ properties in Poland : Thirty years’ experience of building a democratic state ruled by law

2022

Cognitive Semiotics and On-Line Reading of Religious Texts: A Hermeneutic Model of Sacred Literature and Everyday Revelation

2005

In this essay a hermeneutic model of the higher level understanding during on-line ritual reading by devotees of their respective sacred literatures is proposed, using the instruments provided by cognitive sciences. The way a devotee reads a sacred text differs from the way he or she would read a common piece of literature or how a lay person might read the same sacred text. After providing an overview of metaphor, anthropomorphism, and the “religious brain”, it is suggested how devotee-readers might make sense of a religious text and why it should be so important for their own personal everyday life. Universals are implicated in this genre of literature and the way it is interpreted.

Malarstwo religijne we współczesnej katechezie w gimnazjum

2016

Pole badawcze przedstawionego artykułu obejmuje edukację religijną i estetyczną.

Święty dzieci i dorosłych. Wizerunek świętego Mikołaja w wybranych utworach dla dzieci i młodzieży

2020

Saint Nicholas is one of the favourite heroes of hagiographic literature for children and youth. He is the most recognizable saint both for them and adults. He fi ts into the world of a child through his goodness and especially the gifts that he gives to children. Not surprisingly, the authors of poems and tales from the fi rst half of the 20th century emphasise this aspect of the activities of the saint. His annual returns to earth initiate a joyous time for children, heralding the Christmas holidays and a period of goodness. In modern short biographical poems and prose tales, the authors present the life of the hero from birth to death, which allows them to show the transformation of the …

The Throne of God as a prototype of primacy in the Church and in creation

2019

This study emphasises the cosmic dimensions of the Church understood as the Throne of God, analysing its understanding in this way by the great writers and thinkers of the ancient world, for example, Philo the Alexandrine, Saint Dionysius the Areopagite and Saint Irene of Lyon. The reconstitution of all the cosmological contexts and understanding of the Throne of God inspired by the texts of the ancient authors is opening a very interesting perspective over the existence of the Church as a cosmic Throne of God and reassembling of all the heavenly and intelligible creations sustained and vivified by the primal light of God transmitted in this way towards the lower degrees of the heavenly ang…

The trees in the middle of Paradise (Gn 2:9) during the Great Lent: Orthodox hymnography as biblical interpretation

2022

The article examines the interpretation of the Scripture in Byzantine hymnography during the Great Lent. Some notable recent contributions focus on Andrew of Crete’s and Romanos the Melodist’s compositions, illustrating the hymnographic way of understanding the Scriptures. The author of this study presents a selection of stanzas from hymns of the Triodion that refer to the trees of Paradise. Hymnography perceives the trees in Genesis 2–3 in direct connection with the cross. Only rarely is the tree of life a metaphor for Jesus, as the shadow of the tree of the cross is seldom a metaphor for protection. Another interesting aspect in relation to hymnography is the fact that it represents a typ…

Riflessioni conclusive

2015

The rural sanctuary in the San Cataldo district, between the territories of Terrasini and Partinico, is mentioned by the written sources since the XII century, but the surviving architectural structures date back to the 16th century. The site, abandoned since the 1950s and now restored by the Soprintendenza ai Beni Culturali of Palermo who carried out archaeological excavations in this area in 2000 and 2014, over the centuries has been an important aggregation pole in order to the cultural and religious identity of the rural communities in northwestern Sicily, in relation to the fertile hinterland through the Roma viability (via consolare Valeria) .

Dagens Rødhette i en flerkulturell kontekst – mulighet for en ny identitet?

2013

The starting point for this article is the tendency in recent Norwegian children’s and Ya fiction to thematize cultural encounters in an increasingly multicultural and globalized world. The picturebook Little Miss Eye Flap ( Skylappjenta , 2009) written by the Pakistani-Norwegian author and actor Iram Haq and illustrated by Endre Skandfer, presents a modern version of traditional folktales such as Little Red Riding Hood and Rapunzel . However, the traditional structure of home – away – home gives particular emphasis to the phase of homelessness, not providing any safe return to harmony. This condition of liminal space between cultures is discussed in light of the concepts of reflexive ident…
