Mass and width of the Delta resonance using complex-mass renormalization

2016

The pole mass and width of the Delta resonance are calculated in the relativistic chiral effective field theory approach. We choose a systematic power-counting procedure by applying the complex-mass scheme (CMS).

Stripe formation in doped Hubbard ladders

2004

We investigate the formation of stripes in $7\chunks \times 6$ Hubbard ladders with $4\chunks$ holes doped away from half filling using the density-matrix renormalization group (DMRG) method. A parallelized code allows us to keep enough density-matrix eigenstates (up to $m=8000$) and to study sufficiently large systems (with up to $7\chunks = 21$ rungs) to extrapolate the stripe amplitude to the limits of vanishing DMRG truncation error and infinitely long ladders. Our work gives strong evidence that stripes exist in the ground state for strong coupling ($U=12t$) but that the structures found in the hole density at weaker coupling ($U=3t$) are an artifact of the DMRG approach.

High-performance liquid chromatographic determination of spironolactone and its major metabolite canrenone in urine using ultraviolet detection and c…

1994

A rapid and simple column liquid chromatographic method involving a column-switching system for the determination of spironolactone and its main metabolite canrenone in urine is described. Purification and concentration was performed using an Hypersil ODS-C18, 30 microns (20 x 2.1 mm I.D.) pre-column. The most polar urinary compounds were removed by washing the pre-column with water, and the analytes were subsequently switched to a LiChrospher RP C18, 5 microns (125 x 4 mm I.D.) analytical column and separated by means of an acetonitrile-water mobile-phase. Under the proposed conditions, the extraction efficiency was approximately 100% over the 0.5-10.0 micrograms/ml concentration range. Th…

On the Sets of Regularity of Solutions for a Class of Degenerate Nonlinear Elliptic Fourth-Order Equations with L1 Data

2007

We establish Holder continuity of generalized solutions of the Dirichlet problem, associated to a degenerate nonlinear fourth-order equation in an open bounded set , with data, on the subsets of where the behavior of weights and of the data is regular enough.

On the solutions to 1-Laplacian equation with L1 data

2009

AbstractIn the present paper we study the behaviour, as p goes to 1, of the renormalized solutions to the problems(0.1){−div(|∇up|p−2∇up)=finΩ,up=0on∂Ω, where p>1, Ω is a bounded open set of RN (N⩾2) with Lipschitz boundary and f belongs to L1(Ω). We prove that these renormalized solutions pointwise converge, up to “subsequences,” to a function u. With a suitable definition of solution we also prove that u is a solution to a “limit problem.” Moreover we analyze the situation occurring when more regular data f are considered.

On Weakly Locally Uniformly Rotund Banach Spaces

1999

Abstract We show that every normed space E with a weakly locally uniformly rotund norm has an equivalent locally uniformly rotund norm. After obtaining a σ -discrete network of the unit sphere S E for the weak topology we deduce that the space E must have a countable cover by sets of small local diameter, which in turn implies the renorming conclusion. This solves a question posed by Deville, Godefroy, Haydon, and Zizler. For a weakly uniformly rotund norm we prove that the unit sphere is always metrizable for the weak topology despite the fact that it may not have the Kadec property. Moreover, Banach spaces having a countable cover by sets of small local diameter coincide with the descript…
