Nonlocal chiral quark models with wavefunction renormalization: Sigma properties andπ−πscattering parameters

2008

We analyze the sigma meson mass and width together with the pion-pion scattering parameters in the context of nonlocal chiral quark models with wave function renormalization (WFR). We consider both nonlocal interactions based on the frequently used exponential form factor, and on fits to the quark mass and renormalization functions obtained in lattice calculations. In the case of the sigma properties, we obtain results which are less dependent on the parametrization than in the standard local Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model, and which are in reasonable agreement with the recently reported empirical values. We also show that the inclusion of the WFR tend to improve the description of the $\ensurema…

Scattering amplitudes and integral equations for the collision of two charged composite particles

1980

Transition operators for the collision of two clusters composed of an arbitrary number of charged and neutral particles are represented as a sum of pure Coulomb and Coulomb-modified short-range operators. Sandwiching this relation between the corresponding channel states, correct two-fragment scattering amplitudes are obtained by adapting the conventional two-body screening and renormalization procedure. Furthermore, integral equations are derived for off-shell extensions of the full screened amplitudes and of the unscreened Coulomb-modified short-range amplitudes. For three particles, the final results coincide with those derived previously in a different approach. The proposed theory is v…

Coulomb Effects on Few-Body Scattering States

1986

Modifications of stationary momentum space scattering theory, necessitated by the presence of Coulomb forces, are described, both in the formalism which uses unscreened Coulomb potentials and in the screening and renormalization approach. Thereby, emphasis is laid on exposing the conceptual differences, as well as the different, presently achieved status of applicability. Some of the unresolved problems in both methods are enumerated.

Calculation of Proton-Deuteron Elastic Scattering at 10 MeV with a Realistic Potential

1998

We present the first results of a calculation of the differential cross section and of polarization observables for proton-deuteron elastic scattering at 10thinspthinspMeV proton laboratory energy, for the Paris potential. The method used is the {open_quotes}screening and renormalization approach{close_quotes} which allows one to correctly take into account the Coulomb repulsion between the two protons. Comparison is made with the precise experimental data of Sagara {ital et al.}thinspthinsp[Phys.thinspthinspRev.thinspthinspC {bold 50}, 576 (1994)] and of Sperison {ital et al.}thinspthinsp[Nucl.thinspthinspPhys.thinspthinsp{bold A422}, 81 (1984)]. {copyright} {ital 1998} {ital The American …

Perturbative quantum field theory

2000

pQFT In this chapter we repeat the main steps towards a derivation of the Feynman rules, following the well-known path of canonical quantization. This is standard material, and readers who are not acquainted with such topics are referred to [Bjorken and Drell 1965, Bogoliubov and Shirkov 1980, Itzykson and Zuber 1980, Kaku 1993, Weinberg 1995, Peskin and Schroeder 1995, Teller 1997]. We hope that the short summary given here, similar to that in [Kreimer 1997a], is helpful for readers who want to refresh their memory. Having introduced Feynman rules, we next introduce Schwinger–Dyson equations as a motivation for the introduction of Z -factors. We remark on dimensional regularization and giv…

Renormalized solutions for degenerate elliptic–parabolic problems with nonlinear dynamical boundary conditions and L1-data

2008

Abstract We consider a degenerate elliptic–parabolic problem with nonlinear dynamical boundary conditions. Assuming L 1 -data, we prove existence and uniqueness in the framework of renormalized solutions. Particular instances of this problem appear in various phenomena with changes of phase like multiphase Stefan problems and in the weak formulation of the mathematical model of the so-called Hele–Shaw problem. Also, the problem with non-homogeneous Neumann boundary condition is included.

The four murine peroxisomal ABC-transporter genes differ in constitutive, inducible and developmental expression.

1999

Four ATP-binding cassette (ABC) half-transporters have been identified in mammalian peroxisomes: adrenoleukodystrophy protein (ALDP), adrenoleukodystrophy-related protein (ALDRP), 70-kDa peroxisomal membrane protein (PMP70) and PMP70-related protein (P70R). Inherited defects in ALDP cause the neurodegenerative disorder X-linked adrenoleukodystrophy (X-ALD). By comparative Northern blot analyses we found each of the four murine peroxisomal ABC transporter mRNA species at maximum abundance only in a few tissues, which differed for each family member. The four genes were also regulated differentially during mouse brain development: ALDP mRNA was most abundant in embryonic brain and gradually d…

The risk management in the international contracts of marine renewable energy : focus on offshore wind farms

2022

At a time when climate change is becoming the main concern, the renewable energy sector is developing extremely rapidly. In order to add other sources to the existing ones and to increase electricity production while ensuring its stability, the sea has quickly been considered as an attractive alternative. However, the creation of a new industry is a major challenge and marine renewable energy projects are very expensive and risky. The concept of risk was created specifically regarding the management of human activities at sea. The example of offshore wind energy allows us to go back to the origins of the notion of risk by considering it from the point of view of the company, and to analyse …

Sull'essenza di Beatrice. Caratteri pedagogici della Divina Commedia

2021
