This study attempts to answer this question through the example of Gustav Radbruch (1878-1949), legal philosopher, but also Social-Democratic activist, supporter of the Republic and for some time Member of Parliament and Justice Minister. Even though he is not as well-known as Hans Kelsen or Carl Schmitt,, Radbruch participated in all the important legal debates of his time – debates which reflected the most significant issues of that time of crisis, the Weimar Republic. The First Decades of Independence – White Finland

The Republic of Finland was established after a bloody civil war between the Reds and the Whites in 1918. This chapter analyses the emergence of Finnish independence and the role higher education played in the new republic in the 1920s and 1930s. During this period, the University of Helsinki was Finland’s dominant higher education institution, even though one public pedagogical college and seven private higher education institutions were also established: two universities (one Swedish-speaking and one Finnish-speaking), three business schools, a technical university, and a higher education institution of social sciences.

Zakończenie I wojny światowej stało się początkiem nowego okresu w dziejach nie tylko narodów, ale także społeczności Kościoła katolickiego w wymiarze regionalnym. ABSTRACT Work engagement is described by dedication, vigor, and absorption. The most widely used measure of engagement is the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES), intended to measure engagement for any occupational group. This research aims to study psychometric properties of the UWES for its use in the Dominican Republic and other Caribbean Spanish-speaking countries. The Composite Reliability Index (CRI) as well as alphas were calculated, indicating good internal consistency. Confirmatory factor analyses were carried out to test its dimensionality. Recycling in the subduction factory: Archaean to Permian zircons in the oceanic Cretaceous Caribbean island-arc (Hispaniola)

Abstract Little mineralogical evidence is left of the recycling of continental and oceanic crust into the mantle at subduction zones. Zircon, because of its exceptional robustness, is probably the only surviving phase and the best mineral tracer of this global-scale process. This article combines new in-situ U-Pb dating and O and Hf isotope analyses on Cretaceous (co-magmatic) and pre-Cretaceous (inherited) zircons separated from Albian-Aptian arc-related igneous rocks from the Dominican Republic.
