Molecular Mechanisms of the Crosstalk Between Mitochondria and NADPH Oxidase Through Reactive Oxygen Species—Studies in White Blood Cells and in Anim…
2014
Aims: Oxidative stress is involved in the development of cardiovascular disease. There is a growing body of evidence for a crosstalk between different enzymatic sources of oxidative stress. With the present study, we sought to determine the underlying crosstalk mechanisms, the role of the mitochondrial permeability transition pore (mPTP), and its link to endothelial dysfunction. Results: NADPH oxidase (Nox) activation (oxidative burst and translocation of cytosolic Nox subunits) was observed in response to mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (mtROS) formation in human leukocytes. In vitro, mtROS-induced Nox activation was prevented by inhibitors of the mPTP, protein kinase C, tyrosine kin…
Establishment of Polycomb silencing requires a transient interaction between PC and ESC
2001
Two distinct types of Polycomb complexes have been identified in flies and in vertebrates, one containing ESC and one containing PC. Using LexA fusions, we show that PC and ESC can establish silencing of a reporter gene but that each requires the presence of the other. In early embryonic extracts, we find PC transiently associated with ESC in a complex that includes EZ, PHO, PH, GAGA, and RPD3 but not PSC. In older embryos, PC is found in a complex including PH, PSC, GAGA, and RPD3, whereas ESC is in a separate complex including EZ, PHO, and RPD3.
Crystal structure of 1-ferrocenyl-2-(4-methyl-benzo-yl)spiro-[11H-pyrrolidizine-3,11'-indeno[1,2-b]quinoxaline].
2014
In the title compound the four-fused-rings system is approximately planar and the pyrrolidine rings of the pyrrolidizine fragment adopt a twist conformation. In the crystal, molecules are linked by C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds and C—H⋯π interactions, forming double-chains parallel to the c axis.
Crystal structure of (1S,2R,4S)-1-[(morpholin-4-yl)methyl]-4-(prop-1-en-2-yl)cyclohexane-1,2-diol
2014
Besides intramolecular O—H⋯N hydrogen bonds, the crystal structure displays intermolecular O—H⋯O and C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds linking the molecules into undulating layers parallel to the (01) plane.
Crystal structure of 4-[(adamantan-1-yl)amino]naphthalene-1,2-dione
2019
The title compound, an example of a stable 1,2-naphthoquinone, illustrates steric buttressing of the adamantanyl group.
Crystal structure of N-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)phenylalanyldehydroalanine isopropyl ester (Boc–Phe–ΔAla–OiPr)
2014
In the crystal structure of the dehydrodipeptide (Boc-Phe-ΔAla-OiPr), the molecule has a trans configuration of the N-methylamide group. Its geometry is different from saturated peptides but is in excellent agreement with other dehydroalanine compounds. In the crystal, an N—H⋯O hydrogen bond links the molecules in a herringbone packing arrangement.
Crystal structure and Hirshfeld surface analysis of 1-(4-chlorophenyl)-2-{[5-(4-chlorophenyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl]sulfanyl}ethanone
2017
The title heterocyclic compound is contains an oxadizole and two chloro-substituted phenyl rings. In the crystal, C—H⋯N hydrogen bonding links the molecules into undulating ribbons parallel to the b axis. Hirshfeld surface analysis indicates that the most important contributions for the crystal packing are the H⋯C (18%), H⋯H (17%), H⋯Cl (16.6%), H⋯O (10.4%), H⋯N (8.9%) and H⋯S (5.9%) interactions.
Crystal structure and Hirshfeld surface analysis of 3-oxours-12-ene-27a,28-dioic acid (quafrinoic acid)
2017
The title compound, known as quafrinoic acid, is a pentacyclic triterpene isolated from Nauclea Pobeguinii. The compound is composed of five fused six-membered rings and the molecular conformation is stabilized by intramolecular C—H⋯O interaction, forming S6 and S8 rings.
Crystal structures of pure 3-(4-bromo-2-chlorophenyl)-1-(pyridin-4-yl)benzo[4,5]imidazo[1,2-d][1,2,4]triazin-4(3H)-one and contaminated with 3-(4-b…

The side product of the cyclocondensation reaction between ethyl benzimidazole-2-carboxylate and the nitrile imine of the corresponding hydrazonyl chloride, C20H11BrClN5O, crystallized in two crystal forms. Form (1) is a co-crystal of the target compound (without any chlorine substituent) and a side product containing a Cl atom in position 2 of the bromophenyl group, C20H12BrN5O·0.143C20H11BrClN5O. (2) contains the pure side product. The slightly different conformation of the ring systems leads to a different packing of (1) and (2), but both crystal structures are dominated by p-p interactions.
