Antecedents of International Opportunity Recognition in Born Global Firms

ABSTRACTInternational opportunity recognition has become an important field of research in recent years. This study deals with the effects of entrepreneurial alertness, systematic search, prior knowledge, and social networks on first-time international opportunity recognition of entrepreneurs inside born global firms. Identifying paths to audience success of media products: the media decision-makers’ perspective

Research on media success factors is a fragmented field. Definitions, measures, and methods vary, and findings are often inconsistent. In an attempt to fill this perceived research gap, we distilled generic success factors of media products from the literature. Guided by theory and empirical findings, these factors were aggregated to complex concepts, building blocks of success that we further investigated in an exploratory qualitative study. Instructors' Competence for Enhancing Quality of In-House Training in Maritime Education

<p class="IATED-Affiliation">Improving instructors’ competence will enhance quality of maritime in-house training (IHT). The research question of this study was: what are the main features of a competent IHT instructor? A mixed-method study using interviews and a questionnaire was conducted among three groups of respondents: 1) safety managers, vetting and technical managers; 2) IHT instructors, and 3) seafarers (including masters, chief engineers, officers and ratings). Professionals of the field were involved in interpretation of results and in elaboration of the recommendations for enhancing quality of IHT.</p><p class="normal"> </p>

Personal goal appraisals vary across both individuals and goal contents

Abstract This study examined personal goals as a multilevel construct. After investigating to what extent goal appraisals were characteristics of an individual as compared to the extent to which they vary across different goals, both individual-level and goal-level predictors of goal appraisals were examined. To examine these research questions 477 undergraduates filled in the Personal Project Analysis and Beck’s Depression inventory. Professionals' naming of intellectual disability, past and present practice and rationales

The study illuminates four research questions: What terms for the diagnosis ICD10: F70-79 do Norwegian professionals utilize in their work? Which changes of terminology have professionals experienced? How do professionals explain such changes? Is there a substantive explanation? A semi-structured qualitative interview guide was used on a sample of 41 informants. In this study the aim was to find out how student teachers applied their knowledge, in physics and chemistry, in an upper secondary science topic. The first stage consisted of an analysis of the upper secondary students’ interpretations of an experiment in which a charged rod is brought near another charged rod and a narrow jet of water.
