Linking the residential satisfaction to landscape metrics: a tool for urban planning?

International audience; This paper examines the links between residential satisfaction of periurban households and landscape structure of their spatial neighbourhood. Satisfaction of people was measured using a survey while landscape composition was quantified from remotely sensed data. Results are simulated in order to identify areas of satisfaction.

In order to gain a cultural understanding of the discourse on education used by President Obama, this article examines the source domains commonly used to refer to education in his State of the Union Addresses, from the time he took office in 2009 to 2016 when he will leave office. The study will proceed by applying insights from Conceptual Metaphor Theory (CMT), within the field of cognitive linguistics, supplemented by the Metaphor Identification Procedure (MIP) developed by the Pragglejazz Group. The aim of this study is to analyze the resident’s perception about the cultural and sport impact of European Formula 1 Grand Prix. Cluster analysis was performed by combining hierarchical and non-hierarchical methods, which allowed us to differentiate three groups with different perceptions towards sporting event: Unfavorable, Moderate Unfavorable and Moderate Favorable. Most residents believe that this event has no significant impact to cultural and sporting level. Also, differences were found between the three groups of residents in the interest of Formula 1, the support for the event, attendance and the degree of identification.

A technique is presented for evaluating the degree of support a candidate for national public office is likely to have at the polls. The technique involves the use of an adjective check list, Activity Vector Analysis (AVA), for which forms are available in French, Spanish, German, and Italian. Data are presented and discussed relative to a study made by the authors using this technique of public-image analysis just prior to the 1964 presidential elections in the United States.
