Actualmente se cumplen 35 años de la publicación del libro 'Las matemáticas sí cuentan', más conocido por su subtítulo El informe Cockroft. En el presente artículo se sintetizan las principales ideas vertidas en este informe sobre la importancia de la resolución de problemas y su tratamiento por parte de los libros de texto. En un segundo momento, se revisan las críticas que este material hegemónico ha recibido por parte de diferentes expertos, desde el momento de la publicación de este informe en la década de los años ochenta hasta la actualidad. Elementos de resolución de problemas en primeras edades escolares con Bee-bot

En este trabajo se presenta un estudio exploratorio sobre elementos de resolución de problemas puestos en juego por estudiantes de primeras edades escolares mientras resuelven tareas con el robot programable Bee-bot. En dichos problemas, los estudiantes deben secuenciar las instrucciones necesarias para que el robot recorra un camino desde un punto inicial a otro final. Se pretende observar y caracterizar actuaciones de tres parejas de estudiantes con el fin de determinar recursos heurísticos y procesos de gestión desarrollados durante la resolución de los problemas. Self-regulated learning, self-efficacy beliefs and performance during the late childhood

This article analyzes relations between self-regulated learning, self-efficacy beliefs, and performance in tasks of solving arithmetic problems. The research includes 268 six-year-old students enrolled in the first year of primary school in Spain. The results from binary logistic regression models indicate that self-regulated learning and its interaction with self-efficacy beliefs predict performance. Ultrasonography is an established and effective imaging technique that can be used to evaluate articular and periarticular structures around the shoulder. It has been shown to be useful in a wide range of rotator cuff diseases (e.g. tendon tears, rotator cuff calcific tendinopathy and bursitis) as well as non-rotator cuff abnormalities (instability, synovial joint diseases and nerve entrapment syndrome). Estimating aggregated nutrient fluxes in four Finnish rivers via Gaussian state space models

Reliable estimates of the nutrient fluxes carried by rivers from land-based sources to the sea are needed for efficient abatement of marine eutrophication. Although nutrient concentrations in rivers generally display large temporal variation, sampling and analysis for nutrients, unlike flow measurements, are rarely performed on a daily basis. The infrequent data calls for ways to reliably estimate the nutrient concentrations of the missing days. Here, we use the Gaussian state space models with daily water flow as a predictor variable to predict missing nutrient concentrations for four agriculturally impacted Finnish rivers.
