Introducing the Pietarinen expansion method into the single-channel pole extraction problem

We present a new approach to quantifying pole parameters of single-channel processes based on a Laurent expansion of partial-wave T matrices in the vicinity of the real axis. Instead of using the conventional power-series description of the nonsingular part of the Laurent expansion, we represent this part by a convergent series of Pietarinen functions. As the analytic structure of the nonsingular part is usually very well known (physical cuts with branch points at inelastic thresholds, and unphysical cuts in the negative energy plane), we find that one Pietarinen series per cut represents the analytic structure fairly reliably. Photoproduction of π 0 mesons off protons and neutrons in the second and third nucleon resonance regions

Photoproduction of mesons off quasi-free nucleons bound in the deuteron allows to study the electromagnetic excitation spectrum of the neutron and the isospin structure of the excitation of nucleon resonances. The database for such reactions is much more sparse than for free proton targets. Single $\pi^0$ photoproduction off quasi-free nucleons from the deuteron was experimentally studied. Nuclear effects were investigated by a comparison of the results for free protons and quasi-free protons and used as a correction for the quasi-free neutron data. Production and Characterization of the $^{7}$H Resonance

2006

Détecteur MAYA; International audience; The 7H resonance was produced via one-proton transfer reaction between a 8He beam at 15.4A MeV and a 12C gas target. The experimental setup was based on the active-target MAYA which allowed a complete reconstruction of the reaction kinematics. The characterization of the identified 7H events resulted in a resonance energy of 600 keV above the 3H+4n threshold and a resonance width of 100 keV. This study represents the first unambiguous proof of the existence of the 7H state.

Hadron form factors and large-Nc phenomenology

The half width rule provides a way to consider 1/Nc corrections to hadronic models containing resonances. Consequences of such ideas for hadron form factors and Regge trajectories are explored, with special emphasis on the possibility to describe the spectrum of light and heavy unflavored vector mesons in a universal way.

Hidden beauty baryon states in the local hidden gauge approach with heavy quark spin symmetry

Using a coupled-channel unitary approach, combining the heavy quark spin symmetry and the dynamics of the local hidden gauge, we investigate the meson-baryon interaction with hidden beauty and obtain several new states of N around 11 GeV. We consider the basis of states eta (b) N, I'N, BI > (b) , BI pound (b) , B (*) I > (b) , B (*) I pound (b) , B (*) I pound (b) (*) and find four basic bound states which correspond to BI pound (b) , BI pound (b) (*) , B (*) I pound (b) and B (*) I pound (b) (*) , decaying mostly into eta (b) N and I'N and with a binding energy about 50-130 MeV with respect to the thresholds of the corresponding channel. Resonances in QCD

We report on the EMMI Rapid Reaction Task Force meeting 'Resonances in QCD', which took place at GSI October 12-14, 2015. A group of 26 people met to discuss the physics of resonances in QCD. The aim of the meeting was defined by the following three key questions: What is needed to understand the physics of resonances in QCD? Where does QCD lead us to expect resonances with exotic quantum numbers? What experimental efforts are required to arrive at a coherent picture? For light mesons and baryons only those with ${\it up}$, ${\it down}$ and ${\it strange}$ quark content were considered. Extremely low frequency band station for natural electromagnetic noise measurement

A new permanent ELF measurement station has been deployed in Sierra Nevada, Spain. It is composed of two magnetometers, oriented NS and EW, respectively. At 10 Hz, their sensitivity is 19 μV/pT and the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is 28 dB for a time-varying signal of 1 pT, the expected field amplitude in Sierra Nevada. The station operates for frequencies below 24 Hz. The magnetometers, together with their corresponding electronics, have been specifically designed to achieve such an SNR for small signals. Evidence of electrical activity on Titan drawn from the Schumann resonances sent by Huygens probe

Abstract A procedure is shown for extracting weak resonances from the responses of electromagnetic systems excited by electric discharges. The procedure, based on analysis of the late-time system response, is first checked using an analytical function and later with the data for the electric field generated by the computational simulation of Titan's atmosphere using the Transmission Line Matrix (TLM) method. Finally, the low frequency spectrum of the natural electric field in Titan's atmosphere sent by the mutual impedance sensor (MIP) included in the Huygens probe is analyzed employing this technique. Dynamical Processes in Open Quantum Systems from a TDDFT Perspective: Resonances and Electron Photoemission

We present a review of different computational methods to describe time-dependent phenomena in open quantum systems and their extension to a density-functional framework. We focus the discussion on electron emission processes in atoms and molecules addressing excited-state lifetimes and dissipative processes. Initially we analyze the concept of an electronic resonance, a central concept in spectroscopy associated with a metastable state from which an electron eventually escapes (electronic lifetime).
