This paper aims to develop a conceptual framework on how Intellectual Capital (IC) accumulation and depletion processes are dynamically interrelated with firm performance. Such a framework makes explicit the relationships between policy levers, strategic resources, drivers, end-results and performance indicators through a Dynamic Resource-based perspective. Firms are permanently looking for ways and for tools conditioning the creation of 8 lasting, long-term competitive advantage. A firm’s strategic potential, its resources, capabilities 9 and competences, is an important tool. The article delves into the relationship between these 10 potentials as identified from the perspective of the resource-based view. Herein, particular 11 emphasis is placed upon competences, as this is most distinctive strategic potential of a firm 12 because it plays a key role in building and maintaining competitive advantage.

Farm Entrepreneurs’ Intentions to Develop Pluriactive Business Activities in Finland

We contribute to the entrepreneurial intentions literature by applying the theory of planned behaviour and resource-based views to the model of active entrepreneurs’ intention to develop their pluriactive businesses. Using our 2012 survey data from farm firms in Finland, we address the limited focus on active entrepreneurs and their intentions to develop on-going income-generating, off-farm related business activities. We found that attitudinal proxy antecedents such as innovation, cooperation and growth for pluriactivity differ for active and non-active entrepreneurs and with respect to the entrepreneurs’ age and production line and innovation behaviour.
