Neurochemical Phenotype of Reelin Immunoreactive Cells in the Piriform Cortex Layer II

Reelin, a glycoprotein expressed by Cajal-Retzius neurons throughout the marginal layer of developing neocortex, has been extensively shown to play an important role during brain development, guiding neuronal migration and detachment from radial glia. During the adult life, however, many studies have associated Reelin expression to enhanced neuronal plasticity. Although its mechanism of action in the adult brain remains mostly unknown, Reelin is expressed mainly by a subset of mature interneurons. We show, with computations aided by a computer, that the (3,2)-curve on some standard torus (which topologically is the trefoil knot) has no tritangent planes, thus answering in the negative a conjecture of M. H. Freedman.

Lineability of non-differentiable Pettis primitives

Let \(X\) be an infinite-dimensional Banach space. In 1995, settling a long outstanding problem of Pettis, Dilworth and Girardi constructed an \(X\)-valued Pettis integrable function on \([0,1]\) whose primitive is nowhere weakly differentiable. Using their technique and some new ideas we show that \(\mathbf{ND}\), the set of strongly measurable Pettis integrable functions with nowhere weakly differentiable primitives, is lineable, i.e., there is an infinite dimensional vector space whose nonzero vectors belong to \(\mathbf{ND}\).

Caurspīdīga stikla keramika ir kompozītmateriāls, kurā amorfā stikla fāzē atrodas izkliedēti nanokristāli. Tā kā caurspīdīgām stikla keramikām ir vairāki iespējamie pielietojumi fotonikā, svarīgi ir novērtēt aktivatoru jonu iebūvēšanos kristāliskajā fāzē nanokristālos, kā arī raksturot optiskās īpašības kvantitatīvi. Darba gaitā sintezēti stikla keramikas paraugi, kas satur CaF2 kristālisko fāzi, ar Eu3+ koncentrāciju 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 5 un 10 mol%. Paraugiem veikti rentgendifrakcijas mērījumi, no kuriem iespējams novērtēt aktivatoru jonu iebūvēšanās efektivitāti, izmantojot kristāliskā režģa konstantes izmaiņas atkarībā no Eu3+ koncentrācijas. Ar retzemju elementiem aktivēti oksifluorīda stikli un stikla keramikas ir perspektīvi luminiscenti materiāli, kas pēc ķīmiskā sastāva ir vienādi, bet kuru optiskās īpašības atšķiras, jo retzemju elementu iebūvēšanās vietas stikla un stikla keramikas struktūrā atšķiras, līdz ar to arī luminiscences procesi stiklā un stikla keramikā ir dažādi. Darba gaitā sintezēti oksifluorīda stikli ar atšķirīgām prazeodīma koncentrācijām – 0,01 mol%, 0,1 mol% un 1 mol%, katras koncentrācijas paraugu pagatavojot līdzīgās temperatūrās. Maģistra darbs, 53 lappuses, 23 attēli, 18 tabulas, 37 literatūras avoti, 7 pielikumi. Latviešu valodā. Maģistra darbā ir veikta izskaloto jūras aļģu biomasas izpēte.
