Potassium pyrophosphate was used instead of ATP as a model ligand for magnesium cation for the study of effector influence on the kinetics of pyruvate kinase muscle isozyme M1. The pyruvate kinase activation by low concentration of pyrophosphate and inhibition by high concentration of pyrophosphate was considered to be the result of reversible reactions of magnesium cation with pyrophosphate, ADP, ATP, and PEP. Abstract The work deals with further developments of a study previously initiated, in which a macroscopic monofluid model of liquid helium II, based on extended irreversible thermodynamics, has been formulated. The transversal modes are investigated and a boundary condition, suggested in the natural way by their analysis, is formulated; the existence of the fourth sound is demonstrated too. Sea urchin fibropellins are epidermal growth factor homologues that harbor a C-terminal domain, similar in sequence to hen egg-white avidin and bacterial streptavidin. The fibropellin sequence was used as a conceptual template for mutation of designated conserved tryptophan residues in the biotin-binding sites of the tetrameric proteins, avidin and streptavidin. Three different mutations of avidin, Trp-110-Lys, Trp-70-Arg and the double mutant, were expressed in a baculovirus-infected insect cell system. A diazo initiator and a chain transfer agent (CTA), both containing a pentafluorophenyl (PFP) activated ester, were synthesized. In a RAFT polymerization using the functionalized chain transfer agent (PFPCTA), methyl methacrylate (MMA), diethylene glycol monomethyl ether methacrylate (DEGMA), poly(ethylene glycol) monomethyl ether methacrylate (PEGMA), and lauryl methacrylate (LMA) could successfully be polymerized into homopolymers and diblock copolymers with good control over molecular weight, very high conversions, and narrow molecular weight distributions. International audience; Let L(M) be the (factorial) language avoiding a given antifactorial language M. We design an automaton accepting L(M) and built from the language M. The construction is eff ective if M is finite. If M is the set of minimal forbidden words of a single word v, the automaton turns out to be the factor automaton of v (the minimal automaton accepting the set of factors of v). We also give an algorithm that builds the trie of M from the factor automaton of a single word. It yields a non-trivial upper bound on the number of minimal forbidden words of a word.

International audience; Abstract: The aim of this study was to compare myocardial thickness measured by magnetic resonance imaging and quantified fixation of thallium. Twenty-one patients 61.2+/-11 years were investigated after myocardial infarction of the anterior wall in 8 cases, inferior in 10 cases, lateral in 2 cases and apical in one case. The mean angiographic ejection fraction was 46.5 +/- 19 %. Myocardial scintigraphy was performed after an exercise or pharmacological stress test and followed by a study of redistribution.
