This paper analyzes the role played by the student movement in the restitution of democracy in Spain. Taking as a starting point the situation of university under the Franco dictatorship, and how (and why) students were dealt with, the major features that set the student movement apart from other kinds of activism in that time are described and linked to the unique effects that it had on the status quo, with a special stress on its ability to generate the kind of cultural change required for overcoming the atmosphere of resignation and consent that helped to keep the government in power. Héctor Lastra es un escritor que desarrolló su carrera literaria en el último tercio del siglo XX. En el presente trabajo se analizan sus estrategias de representación a partir de dos bloques temáticos, la historia y sociedad, y el sexo y violencia. Se realiza también un análisis, fundamentalmente estilístico, de sus cuentos, a partir de las variaciones textuales entre los mismos.

This research aims to analyze recruitment by quintas, Spanish word for recruitment levies by lot, in the city of Valencia and the townships included in its jurisdictional area. The analyzed period began in 1717 with the first levie decreted by king Philip V once the War of Spanish Succession was over. Applied this levie in the kingdom of Valencia, this was the first application of levies by lot. The closing year for the reported period up to 1762, whith the last levy made by king Charles III before the establishment of the annual periodicity for the recruitment process. Memorias del subdesarrollo (Edmundo Desnoes, 1965) presenta una serie de ideas, reflexiones y representaciones del proceso revolucionario cubano desde la voz de un narrador perteneciente al orden burgués en descomposición. La ambigüedad y el carácter irónico de la novela hacen que pueda ser leída a la vez como un juicio crítico sobre la burguesía decadente o como una crítica a los elementos opresivos de la Revolución. in this article we intend to approach some of the major controversies that have affected the poetry written in Cuba in recent decades: the reflection on the relationship of poetic language with reality; the writing of the limits, the remains —that what ideology hides—; the crossing of different genres and artistic languages —poetry, fiction, image—, etc. To do this, we analyze two books published by the Cuban poet Reina Maria Rodríguez: Travelling (1995) and Variedades de Galiano (2008). And their relationship to the American “Language Poets”.

Esta tesis doctoral constituye una aproximación al periodo que transcurre entre 1810 y 1824 en México a partir de la perspectiva contrarrevolucionaria y antiliberal. El estudio de aquellas manifestaciones políticas y culturales que se opusieron al proceso revolucionario no ha ocupado generalmente un lugar destacado entre las preocupaciones historiográficas de quienes se han interesados por dicha etapa.
