In this paper it is analysed the frequency of a given number of linguistic features within the corpora of the traditionally so called Antiphon the Orator and Antiphon the Sophist. The aim is to determine, by means of statistics, the linguistic and stylistic criteria that might allow to point out or at least to suggest that the works attributed to them could be assigned to the same hand.

Abstract The world of professional communication includes so many innovative practices that a 25-century-old typology on repetition like Aristotle's or even a 40-year-old theory on relevance like Grice's might seem obsolete or hardly appealing for today's lecturers. Para demostrar la autoría de la Gramatica de la Lengua Vulgar de España nos basamos en los siguientes puntos: el uso en El Concejo i Consejeros del Príncipe (Amberes, 1559) de Furio Ceriol de las normas ortográficas propuestas en la Gramatica; la denominación de la lengua castellana o española como lengua ‘vulgar’ de España, en la misma obra de Ceriol; las ideas lingüísticas contenidas en la Gramatica y en Bononia de Ceriol; la organización retórica de la Gramatica; y, en último lugar, la comparación entre el poema dedicatorio en la Gramatica y los de las obras de Furio Ceriol.

ABSTRACT: Allegorical and emblematic images do not appear exclusively in visual literature: Genres such as the Italian or the Italian-inspired Counter-Reformation oratorios, cantatas and sacred or moral operas often contain images quite similar in form and function to those published in the Seventeenth and early Eighteenth-century European collections of emblems. This article analyses some of these parallelisms in the particular case of Il trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno (c. 1707), by the librettist and patron of the arts Cardinal Benedetto Pamphilj and the composer Georg Friedrich Handel. ABSTRACT: The Imago Primi Saeculi Societatis Iesv (1640) is, perhaps, the most beautiful book of emblems published by the Jesuits in the seventeenth century. The book is a festive commemoration offered by the priests and students of the Flemish-Belgian Province in celebration of the centenary of the founding of the Society of Jesus. The work includes 127 full-page emblems distributed throughout a total of 956 folio-sized pages that narrate and illustrate in emblematic fashion the foundation, development, vicisstitudes and achievements of the Socirty in its evangelical and pedagogical mission. Today it is generally accepted that the main differences between the "Rhetoric to Alexander" and Aristotle’s "Rhetoric" depend on the different aims of each work’s author: essentially practical in the first case, theoretical in the second one. This article seeks to investigate the changing perception of the term “translation” in feminist TS thanks to a continuous dialogue with other fields such as, feminist literary criticism, post-structuralism, postcolonial studies and cultural studies that have borrowed and utilised the notion of translation. “Translation” has become a “travelling concept” for feminist scholars who have utilized it in a metaphorical way for a feminist critique of language and ideology. Sublexical effects on eye movements during repeated reading of words and pseudowords in Finnish

The role of different orthographic units (letters, syllables, words) in reading of orthographically transparent Finnish language was studied by independently manipulating the number of letters (NoL) and syllables (NoS) in words and pseudowords and by recording eye movements during repeated reading aloud of these items. Fluent adult readers showed evidence for using larger orthographic units in (pseudo)word recoding, whereas dysfluent children seem to be stuck in a letter-based decoding strategy, as lexicality and item repetition decreased the NoL effect only among adult readers. Abstract This article analyzes multimodal genres of current online humanitarian discourse such as mission statements, annual reports and photo galleries to find how the construals of beneficiaries and humanitarian organizations align with the motives, values and emotional dispositions of prospective donors. The discursive reduction of distance between the donor and the beneficiary is likely to produce solicitation effects and enable self-legitimization.
