Segmentation and differential post-rift uplift at the Angola margin as recorded by the transform-rifted Benguela and oblique-to-orthogonal-rifted Kwa…

2010

29 pages; International audience; We analyse tectonic and sedimentary field and subsurface data for the Angola onshore margin together with free-air gravity anomaly data for the offshore margin. This enables us to characterize the mode of synrift tectonism inherited from the Precambrian and its impact on the segmentation of the Angola margin. We illustrate that segmentation by the progressive transition from the Benguela transform-rifted margin segment to the oblique-rifted South Kwanza and orthogonal-rifted North Kwanza margin segments. The spatial variation in the intensity of post-rift uplift is demonstrated by the study of a set of geomorphic markers detected in the post-rift succession…

Ion mobility mass spectrometry – an efficient tool for the analysis of conformational switch of macrocyclic receptors upon anion binding

2021

Interactions between anions and synthetic macrocyclic receptors belong to the extensively explored area of research due to the particularly important functions of anions in biological and environmental sciences. Structures of anion-macrocycle complexes are closely related to their function, highlighting the importance of structural analysis of the complexes. Here, we discuss the application of ion mobility mass spectrometry (IM-MS) and theoretical calculations to the structural analysis of tetralactam macrocycles (M) with varying flexibility and structural properties, and their complexes with anions [M + X]−. Collision cross section (CCS) values obtained from both direct drift tube (DT) and…

Microgeographic Variation of Genetic Polymorphism in Argyresthia mendica (Lep.: Argyresthiidae)

1988

Field studies on the genetic structure of populations show a considerable amount of heterogeneity in space and time. In many cases, these heterogeneities can be related to structures in the environment, such as properties of soil, availability of special food resources, topographic conditions or climate. In other cases the genetic structure can be explained by properties of the plant and animal species under study, e.g. ability and speed of migration and colonization (Karlin and Nevo 1976; Endler 1977; Nevo 1978; Nevo and Yang 1979; Nevo et al. 1981; Seitz and Komma 1984; Wohrmann 1984).

Modeling suggests that oblique extension facilitates rifting and continental break-up

2012

[1] In many cases the initial stage of continental break-up was and is associated with oblique rifting. That includes break-up in the Southern and Equatorial Atlantic, separation from eastern and western Gondwana as well as many recent rift systems, like Gulf of California, Ethiopia Rift and Dead Sea fault. Using a simple analytic mechanical model and advanced numerical, thermomechanical modeling techniques we investigate the influence of oblique extension on the required tectonic force in a three-dimensional setting. While magmatic processes have been already suggested to affect rift evolution, we show that additional mechanisms emerge due to the three-dimensionality of an extensional syst…

Seismic stratigraphy of upper Quaternary shallow-water contourite drifts in the Gulf of Taranto (Ionian Sea, southern Italy)

2018

Abstract The occurrence of articulated seafloor morphology over continental shelf-upper slope environments, may result in a significant change in the patterns and intensity of basin-scale thermohaline circulation during eustatic sea-level fluctuations. These changes may cause, in turn, erosion, deposition and/or transport of sediments at the seafloor, to form shallow-water contourite drifts. Here we investigate this process in the NW sector of the Gulf of Taranto (Ionian Sea) during and following the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM), by integrating multibeam bathymetric data, ultra-high resolution seismic-reflection data and gravity core data. Sea level fall caused subaerial exposure of the summi…

A study of active ownership through board representation by norwegian private equity actors in the norwegian population of portfolio company investme…

2013

Masteroppgave i økonomi og administrasjon - Universitetet i Agder 2013 This thesis focuses on the indirect drivers of value creation in private equity, through a study of corporate governance mechanisms employed by the major Norwegian PE actors in a population of Norwegian portfolio company investments. More specifically, it focuses on board representation by PE actors in the venture capital and buyout portfolio company investments. For this study, data pertaining to debt/equity, return on assets and portfolio company size has been collected for the current active population of portfolio company investments for the period (t-1) (one year before PE investment) as well as for (t+1) (one year …

Fortsatt drift: Regnskapsrapportering i konkursrammede små aksjeselskap : En studie av hvordan det rapporteres om fortsatt drift i forkant av konkurs…

2020

Master's thesis in Accounting and auditing (BE508) Hvert år går flere tusen små aksjeselskap konkurs i Norge. Dette studeresgjennom to forskningsspørsmål, hvor forutsetningens to mulige fo…

Revisorskifte i teori og praksis : Hva kan revisor gjøre for å beholde eksisterende og tiltrekke seg nye revisjonsklienter?

2021

Geochemical constraints on basalt petrogenesis in the Strait of Sicily Rift Zone (Italy): Insights into the importance of short lengthscale mantle he…

2020

Igneous activity from the late Miocene to historic time (most recently 1891 CE) in the Strait of Sicily has created two volcanic islands (Pantelleria and Linosa) and several seamounts. These volcanoes are dominated by transitional (ol + hy-normative) to alkaline (ne-normative) basaltic lavas and scoriae; volcanic felsic rocks (peralkaline trachyte-rhyolite) crop out only on Pantelleria. Although most likely erupted through continental crust, basalts demonstrate no evidence of crustal contamination and are geochemically similar to oceanic island basalts (OIB). Despite their isotopic similarities, there are considerable compositional differences with respect to major and trace element geochem…
