Il presente contributo propone l’introduzione, la traduzione italiana e il commento delle Note sulla verità e falsità dell’astrologia (Nukat fī mā yaṣiḥḥu wa-mā lā yaṣiḥḥu min aḥkām al-nuǧūm) di Abū Naṣr al-Fārābī (m. 950). Tale scritto non è stato trasmesso direttamente dal suo autore né ci è giunto nella sua redazione definitiva, bensì in forma di appunti ricopiati da un grammatico di nome Abū Isḥāq al-Baġdādī. In trenta brevi capitoli al-Fārābī spiega ciò che è accessibile e ciò che è inaccessibile alle predizioni astrologiche e quali aspetti di tale scienza sia opportuno accogliere o respingere.

Cat as an animal is a sporadic presence in Vedic mythology and Brahmanic works on rituals, while it appears in a few cult practices of contemporary popular religiosity in India. This article holds that in Indian devotional practices, the cat is conceived as an animal with an ambiguous nature. It also suggests that the cat cult is linked with the need to tame chaos, violence, and con$ict, and to place them in a controlled, orderly, and pacified cosmos. To understand these phenomena, this article studies, from a multidisciplinary perspective, contemporary religious practices in the light of the Indian tradition, and suggests that the cat cult was subject to substantial Brahmanization.

The folkloric traditions related to Saint Lucia of Syracuse are characterized, in Sicily as well as elsewhere in Italy, by a peculiar mythical-ritual symbolism. The eyes, fire, wheat are the main elements. The Saint is invoked to solve the problems of sight and all ophthalmic pathologies (both in a cult context and in a magical-medical one) and as such she is the recipient of ex voto objects and the protagonist of prayers and spells. Today we are witnessing the increasingly insistent formation of visual stereotypes. The continuous repetition of these modules, used in similar situations, makes it easier to interpret them, so much so that they can now be considered elements of a common language: a figurative language to be investigated in the context of the anthropology of visual communication. The Sicilian family photos collected in this essay belong to this category of cultural products and allow us to reflect on the different articulations of cultural phenomena.

Among the important parts of the traditional calendar rites in Sicily are bakery and pastry products made in special shapes. Being produced and consumed during certain rituals and being shaped to reflect their mystic connotations, these products become the integral signs of these rituals in both the constitutive and functional sense. What is refl ected in their symbolism, beliefs, and related practices is the deeply archaic peasant worldview in the framework of which these rituals had been shaped; and in particular, it is the meaning that is attached to the infl uence of chthonic forces in the cyclic reproduction of natural and social life.

The talk explores the problem of how it is possible to rationally judge an institutionally justified act if, from Hegel to contemporary social ontology, we accept that human reason is necessarily embedded in particular lifeforms and institutional settings. The talk argues that there is a specific, moral criterion of fairness built in every institutional and communicative act, which requires us to respect human dignity in each one of our institutional or communicative acts, and that this criterion can be justified through a linguistic, deflationary reinterpretation of Kant's categorical imperative of universalization of reasons for action.

La sequenza sismica che ha colpito l’Italia centrale tra 2016 e 2017 ha generato intensi processi di de- e riterritorializzazione che hanno reso il cratere un contesto privilegiato per l’analisi di fenomeni socio-territoriali. Attraverso l’analisi delle trasformazioni del territorio amatriciano nel post-sisma, si prende in esame l’impatto delle principali misure di gestione dell’emergenza e della ricostruzione, per comprendere il processo di riterritorializzazione in corso e le politiche di sviluppo sottintese. Localizzazione S1 di Herpes Zooster: un raro caso di ritenzione urinaria.

Donna di 46 anni con ritenzione urinaria acuta e stipsi. Presentava piccola vescicola sul dorso del piede sinistro quale unica manifestazione di localizzazione di virus Herpes Zooster a livello sacrale S1. Viene riportato l'esame urodinamico e le risultanze dei test sierologici seriati specifici per l'infezione da virus Varicella Zooster. La paziente è guarita a seguito di terapia specifica con Acyclovir. Il caso riportato dimostra che anche il segmento sacrale S1 contribuisce al controllo della dinamica minzionale

I rotavirus di gruppo A sono i più frequenti agenti eziologici di gastroenterite virale sia nell’uomo che in numerose specie animali. Per valutare l’evoluzione di tali virus si è rivelato utile effettuare l’analisi di sequenza dei geni codificanti per le proteine del capside esterno VP7 e VP4, per la proteina del capside interno VP6 e per la proteina non strutturale NSP4. Attualmente sono stati descritti in natura: 15 genotipi G in base a VP7, 27 genotipi P in base a VP4, 4 sottogruppi VP6 e 5 genotipi NSP4. I rotavirus umani appartengono più frequentemente ai genotipi G1P[8], G3P[8] e G4P[8], che si associano con il SGII (VP6 correlato) e NSP4B, ovvero al genotipo G2P[4], associato a SGII …
