Electrodermal activity in couple therapy for intimate partner violence

The aim of this study was to examine the extent to which intimate partner violence (IPV) is discussed in couple therapy, what the participants say about it and how, and how the participants’ electrodermal activity (EDA) is activated during these discussions. We studied four couples for whom IPV was an issue in dialog with their therapists. We used thematic analysis and examined the differences in EDA (measured as skin conductance responses, SCRs) between the participants. We found that although IPV was discussed relatively little in therapy, when the topic arose the victims took an active part in the discussion. Numerous instruments have been developed to measure gaming-related health problems based on “internet gaming disorder” (IGD) in the third section of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (5th ed.) and “gaming disorder” (GD) in the International Classification of Diseases (11th rev.). Soforolipīdu ražošana no lipīdiem bagātiem pārtikas atkritumiem ar Starmerella bombicola

Soforolipīdi ir biovirsmaktīvo vielu veids, kuru iespējams ražot mikrobiāli no dažādiem lipīdiem bagātiem substrātiem, tai skaitā atkritumiem. Šajā darbā noteica soforolipīdu ražošanai ar Starmerella bombicola piemērotāko lipīdiem bagātu atkritumu veidu, ņemot vērā titru, virsmaktīvās īpašības un ražošanas procesa ietekmi uz vidi. Soforolipīdu ražošanai izmantoja periodisko kultivēšanu bez piebarošanas. Lielāko soforolipīdu titru (41.57±1.07 g∙L-1) ieguva, izmantojot rapšu eļļu no fritētavas ar pievienotu glikozi. In the search of new strategies to fight against obesity, we targeted a gene pathway involved in energy uptake. We have thus investigated the APOB mRNA editing protein (APOBEC1) gene pathway that is involved in fat absorption in the intestine. The APOB gene encodes two proteins, APOB100 and APOB48, via the editing of a single nucleotide in the APOB mRNA by the APOBEC1 enzyme. The APOB48 protein is mandatory for the synthesis of chylomicrons by intestinal cells to transport dietary lipids and cholesterol. We produced transgenic rabbits expressing permanently and ubiquitously a small hairpin RNA targeting the rabbit APOBEC1 mRNA. These rabbits exhibited a moderately but significantly reduced …
Guano-related phosphate-rich minerals in European caves

International audience; Guano is a typical deposit found in caves derived from the excretions of bats and in minor cases of birds. These organic deposits decompose and form a series of acid fluids and gases that can interact with the minerals, sediments, and rocks present in the cave. Over sixty phosphates are known and described from caves, but guano decay also often leads to the formation of nitrates and sulfates. In this study twenty-two European caves were investigated for their guano-related secondary minerals. Using various analytical techniques, seventeen phosphates, along with one sulfate (gypsum), were recognized as secondary products of guano decay. Among those minerals, some are …
