In this article, we propose a framework of principles and criteria for just transitions in food systems. Climate mitigation activities are urgently needed in food systems, but can have damaging social, environmental, economic, and health impacts. Consequently, food system transitions can cause significant side effects across and beyond food systems, aggravating existing inequalities and unsustainabilities, causing new ones, or hampering equal engagement in the transition itself. Pamatojums: pētījumos ar 1. tipa diabēta pacientiem tika konstatēta palielināta nitrīta koncentrācija plazmā. Literatūrā nav atrodami dati par nitrīta koncentrāciju 1. tipa diabēta pacientu siekalās. Mērķi: noteikt nitrīta koncentrāciju 1. tipa diabēta pacientu siekalās un tās korelāciju ar slāpekļa oksīda (NO), tā metabolītu nitrātjona (NO3) un nitrītjona (NO2) koncentrāciju asinīs, kā arī blakusslimībām un dzīvesveida faktoriem. Matriāli un metodes: pētījumam tika uzaicināti 44 pacienti no LatDiane kohortas. Dati par diabēta anamnēzi, diētu, fizisko aktivitāti un citiem dzīvesveida faktoriem tika savākti ar anketas palīdzību. 5 ml siekalu tika savākti turpmākai NO2 koncentrācijas analīzei…

First Evidence of Contourite Drifts in the North-Western Sicilian Active Continental Margin (Southern Tyrrhenian Sea)

We present the results of an integrated geomorphological and seismo-stratigraphic study based on high resolution marine data acquired in the north-western Sicilian continental margin. We document for the first time five contourite drifts (marked as EM1a, EM2b, EM2, EM3a, and EM3b), located in the continental slope at depths between ca. 400 and 1500 m. EM1a,b have been interpreted as elongated mounded drifts. EM1a,b are ca. 3 km long, 1.3 km wide, and have a maximum thickness of 36 m in their center that thins northwards, while EM1b is smaller with a thickness up to 24 m.
