Betanin inhibits the myeloperoxidase/nitrite-induced oxidation of human low-density lipoproteins

Production of nitrogen dioxide by the activity of myeloperoxidase (MPO) in the presence of nitrite is now considered a key step in the pathophysiology of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) oxidation. This study shows that betanin, a phytochemical of the betalain class, inhibits the production of lipid hydroperoxides in human LDL submitted to a MPO/nitrite-induced oxidation. Kinetic measurements including time-course of particle oxidation and betanin consumption, either in the presence or in the absence of nitrite, suggest that the antioxidant effect is possibly the result of various actions. Abstract Introduction Depression is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Lower antioxidant concentrations and increased oxidative stress levels contribute to the development of depression. Effective and tolerable medications are urgently needed. Nrf2 and PRDX2 are promising targets in the treatment of oxidative stress and, therefore, promising for the development of novel antidepressants. Ursolic acid (UA), a natural triterpenoid found in various plants is known to exert neuroprotective and antioxidant effects. Effect of antibodies against cytochrome P-450 on demethylation and denitrosation of N-nitrosodimethylamine and N-nitrosomethylaniline.

Rat liver microsomes which were induced either with ethanol or PB were incubated with NDMA or NMA. Formaldehyde generation and nitrite formation were measured as metabolic parameters for oxidative bioactivation and denitrosation, respectively. The influence of antiserum PB3a1 and PB22 containing antibodies against the corresponding cytochrome P-450 species on both metabolic functions was investigated. The results showed that the influence on formaldehyde production and denitrosation varied independently in that both parameters were either not affected, or influenced in an opposite way, or inhibited to a different degree. Diplomdarba mērķis ir izpētīt un novērtēt apgrozāmo līdzekļu uzskaiti un izmantošanas efektivitāti SIA „RILITA” un izstrādāt priekšlikumus konstatēto problēmu risināšanai. Darbā tiek pētīti apgrozāmie līdzekļi, to uzskaite un izmantošanas efektivitāte literatūras avotos un LR regulējumos no teorētiskā aspekta, novērtēti un analizēti SIA „RILITA” apgrozāmie līdzekļi, to uzskaite un izmantošanas efektivitāte. Darba izstrādes laikā autore konstatēja SIA „RILITA” vairākas problēmas – zemi finanšu rādītāji un apgrozāmo līdzekļu izmantošanas efektivitātes rādītāji, gada pārskata sastādīšanas noteikumu neatbilstība un citas, kā ari izstrādāja priekšlikumus to uzlabošanai.

Application of multi-criteria decision making to PMISs assessment

This paper builds on a previous study concerning the assessment and ranking of Project Management Information Systems (PMISs) features and the comparison of a PMISs software sample. In such an application a Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) tool such as the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) was adopted to get the ranking by neglecting the mutual influence of elements within the structure. The present paper aims at taking into account such influences by relying on the Analytic Network Process (ANP) for the assessment and ranking of features, while the PMISs software assessment has been performed through the AHP via the direct assessment.
