BACKGROUND: The Smith-Robinson1 approach (SRA) is the most widely used route to access the anterior cervical spine. Although several authors have described this approach, there is a lack of the stepwise anatomic description of this operative technique. With the advent of new technologies in neuroanatomy education, such as volumetric models (VMs), the understanding of the spatial relation of the different neurovascular structures can be simplified. Abstract The synthesis of 4-hydroxy-3-[(1 S )-1,2,2-trimethylcyclopentyl]benzaldehyde [(−)-α-formylherbertenol 1 ], a herbertane-type sesquiterpene isolated from the leafy liverwort Herberta adunca , from β-cyclogeraniol is described. The synthesis is based on the previously described preparation of an enantiopure 1,2,2-trimethylcyclopentane synthon from which the characteristic aromatic moiety of 1 is elaborated, using a Robinson annulation and a palladium-catalysed methoxycarbonylation of an aryl triflate as key synthetic steps. The synthesis of the natural sesquiterpene (−)-α-herbertenol, also a natural sequiterpene, using the same methodology is also described.
Correlation Dynamics During a Slow Interaction Quench in a One-Dimensional Bose Gas

We investigate the response of a one-dimensional Bose gas to a slow increase of its interaction strength. We focus on the rich dynamics of equal-time single-particle correlations treating the Lieb-Liniger model within a bosonization approach and the Bose-Hubbard model using the time-dependent density-matrix renormalization group method. For short distances, correlations follow a power-law with distance with an exponent given by the adiabatic approximation. In contrast, for long distances, correlations decay algebraically with an exponent understood within the sudden quench approximation. Silicon guided rearrangement of epoxydecalines to spirocyclic compounds. Synthesis of gleenol and axenol from carvone

Abstract The synthesis of the spirocyclic sesquiterpenes (−)-gleenol and (−)-axenol in enantiomerically pure form has been achieved starting from R-(−)-carvone. The key step is the silicon guided acid-promoted rearrangement of a 9-trimethylsilyl-5,6-epoxy-noreudesmane prepared from 3-trimethylsilyldihydrocarvone in several steps involving Robinson annulation, enone deconjugation and epoxidation. Acid treatment of the epoxy-noreudesmane gave a norspiroaxane as the main product, which was used as intermediate for the synthesis of two naturally occurring sesquiterpenes gleenol and axenol.

In 2000, Babson and Steingr\'{i}msson generalized the notion of permutation patterns to the so-called vincular patterns, and they showed that many Mahonian statistics can be expressed as sums of vincular pattern occurrence statistics. STAT is one of such Mahonian statistics discoverd by them. In 2016, Kitaev and the third author introduced a words analogue of STAT and proved a joint equidistribution result involving two sextuple statistics on the whole set of words with fixed length and alphabet. Sportistu treniņu programmās un dažkārt arī klīniskās rehabilitācijas plānos tiek iekļautas reģionālas muskuļu slodzes, kuru laikā tiek daļēji ierobežota nodarbinātās ekstremitātes (tātad – arī muskuļu) asinsapgāde. Visai rūpīgi jau izpētīti išemizēto muskuļu ilglaicīgas adaptācijas mehānismi un vispārējas anabolisko procesu stimulācijas mehānismi, ja šādas slodzes tiek veiktas regulāri. Toties nepietiekoši izpētīta ir kardiovaskulārās sistēmas adaptācija dažāda rakstura fiziskām slodzēm šādos apstākļos, kuros mākslīgi tiek samazināta asiņu caurplūde caur salīdzinoši lielu (vienas vai pat divu ekstremitāšu) sistēmiskās cirkulācijas gultnes daļu.
