Nonlinear model based particle swarm optimization of PID shimmy damping control

The present study aims to investigate the shimmy stability behavior of a single wheeled nose landing gear system. The system is supposed to be equipped with an electromechanical actuator capable to control the shimmy vibrations. A Proportional-Integrative-Derivative (PID) controller, tuned by using the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) procedure, is here proposed to actively damp the shimmy vibration. Time-history results for some test cases are reported and commented. Stochastic analysis is last presented to assess the robustness of the control system.

Featured Application The use of highly robust radiomic features is fundamental to reduce intrinsic dependencies and to provide reliable predictive models. This work presents a study on breast tumor DCE-MRI considering the radiomic feature robustness against the quantization settings and segmentation methods. Machine learning models based on radiomic features allow us to obtain biomarkers that are capable of modeling the disease and that are able to support the clinical routine. Topological optimization of a structural naval component manufactured in FDM

In this paper, a topological optimization procedure has been applied on a real component of the deck of a sailing multi-hull in order to find the internal shape that best save the material used in the manufacturing process without a relevant loss of structural rigidity. The multi-hull boat is a 16 feet length catamaran equipped with an asymmetric foil on both centerboards and with a symmetric foil on both rudders. The task of the analyzed object is to act as a cylindrical support for the screw that drives the rotation of the centerboard. A genetic integrated fuzzy classifier

This paper introduces a new classifier, that is based on fuzzy-integration schemes controlled by a genetic optimisation procedure. Two different types of integration are proposed here, and are validated by experiments on real data sets of biological cells. The performance of our classifier is tested against a feed-forward neural network and a Support Vector Machine. Results show the good performance and robustness of the integrated classifier strategies.

HyperLabelMe : A Web Platform for Benchmarking Remote-Sensing Image Classifiers

HyperLabelMe is a web platform that allows the automatic benchmarking of remote-sensing image classifiers. To demonstrate this platform's attributes, we collected and harmonized a large data set of labeled multispectral and hyperspectral images with different numbers of classes, dimensionality, noise sources, and levels. The registered user can download training data pairs (spectra and land cover/use labels) and submit the predictions for unseen testing spectra. Robust motion control of nonlinear quadrotor model with wind disturbance observer

This paper focuses on robust wind disturbance rejection for nonlinear quadrotor models. By leveraging on nonlinear unknown observer theory, it proposes a nonlinear dynamic filter that, using sensors already on-board the aircraft, can estimate in real-time wind gust signals in the three dimensions. The wind disturbance is then treated as input to the PD controller for a quick and robust flight pathway in presence of disturbances. Our goal is to develop a complete and automatic scanning strategy with minimum prior information about the object shape. We aim to establish a methodology for the automation of the 3D digitization process. The paper presents a novel approach to determine the Next Best View (NBV) for an efficient reconstruction of highly accurate 3D models.
