El artículo relaciona al enigmático pintor "Don Blas" que trabajó para el III Duque de Alcalá, Fernando Afán de Ribera y que vivió en Roma en 1626 con el criado del VII Duque de Montalto, el siciliano Luigi Guglielmo Moncada -yerno de Alcalá-, el pintor Blas Orliens que pintó la galería de retratos del Palacio Real de Cagliari ca. 1646. Señala la continuidad entre las casas del Duque de Alcalá y Montalto y resalta la importancia del pintor de corte en las casas nobiliarias. El estudio nos presenta la existencia de un hospital de caridad localizado en el antiguo camino real de Valencia a Madrid en la población de Campillo de Altobuey (Cuenca). El edificio fue construido en el siglo XVIII (1720), aunque se empezó en el XVI y estuvo al cuidado de la iglesia local. La iglesia debe ser mencionada no sólo por su arquitectura y ornamentación, sino también por piezas relevantes como el retablo barroco y otros ornamentos litúrgicos. Además, hay abundante documentación de todos los trabajos artísticos que decoraban la iglesia del hospital.

A theoretical study of the low-lying states of the anionic and protonated ionic forms of urocanic acid

A multistate second-order perturbation theory (MS−CASPT2) study of the lowest lying states in the electronic spectra of urocanic acid in vacuo is presented. The anionic trans and cis isomers, as well as the biologically important trans protonated ionic structure, are considered. The vertical and 0−0 excitation spectra were computed for each system at the MS−CASPT2/ANO-L level, describing the lowest lying ππ* and nπ* singlet and triplet states. In all three systems, a weakly absorbing ππ* singlet state was observed at ∼4.0 eV in the vertical excitation spectrum, suggesting both a novel assignment and an alternative explanation for the previously described wavelength dependent photochemistry …
Photo-polymerized lauryl methacrylate monolithic columns for CEC using lauroyl peroxide as initiator

Lauryl methacrylate (LMA)-ester based monolithic columns photo-polymerized using lauroyl peroxide (LPO) as initiator were prepared, and their morphological and CEC properties were studied. The composition of the polymerization mixture (i.e. ratios of monomers/porogenic solvents, 1,4-butanediol/1-propanol and LMA/crosslinker) was optimized. The morphological and chromatographic properties of LMA columns were evaluated by means of SEM pictures and van Deemter plots of PAHs, respectively. The polymerization mixture selected as optimal provided a fast separation of a mixture of PAHs with excellent efficiencies (minimum plate heights of 8.9-11.1 μm). Polymeric monolithic stationary phases for capillary electrochromatography were prepared using two bulk monomers, butyl methacrylate (BMA) and lauryl methacrylate (LMA), by in situ polymerization in non-aqueous media. The effect of 1,4-butanediol/1-propanol ratio on porous properties was investigated separately for each monomer, keeping the proportion of monomers to pore-forming solvents fixed at 40:60 wt:wt. Also, mixtures of BMA and LMA at different 1,4-butanediol/1-propanol ratios were studied for tailoring the morphological features of the monolithic columns.
