Pedro Juan Laviesca de la Torre, un arquitecto itinerante en la España del siglo XVIII

El presente artículo pretende recorrer la biografía del hasta ahora casi desconocido arquitecto Pedro Juan Laviesca de la Torre, activo entre 1716 y 1749. Partiendo de su trabajo en Castellón, intentamos reconstruir los años de su formación en Valencia en el seno de una familia de canteros y su traslado a Sevilla de la mano del intendente Rodrigo Caballero, ciudad en la que iba a asumir los cargos de Maestro Mayor de Obras de la Ciudad, Maestro de las Antiguas Fábricas de Tabaco y Arquitecto Diocesano. Este recorrido nos permitirá conocer varias trazas inéditas del maestro y su nutrida biblioteca.
Jaspes de Tortosa para el palacio del Buen Retiro de Madrid

En 1638 llegan al puerto de Alicante más de 300piezas de jaspe procedente de Tortosa con destino al Palacio del Buen Retiro de Madrid, pero los jaspes quedaron abandonados en el puerto. En 1657, la ciudad de Alicante solicita algunaspiezas para su iglesia mayo6 el Consejo de Aragón decide destinar diferentes partes a la obra del Hospital de la Corona de Aragón, la capilla de San Isidro en la iglesia de San Andrés y las iglesias de Orihuela y Alicante. El maestro de obras Felipe Serrano y la arquitectura valenciana de las últimas décadas del siglo XVII y principios del SVIII

El presente trabajo analiza algunos aspectos de la arquitectura valenciana especialmente durante las tres últimas décadas del siglo XVII y primeros años del XVIII, coincidiendo con el período barroco pleno, a través de una familia de alarifes: los Serrano. Algunos de los más destacados maestros de obras de esta familia repiten el mismo nombre de pila durante varias generaciones: Felipe. El artículo estudia además la trayectoria de algunos de los miembros de esta saga de constructores en el seno del Gremio de Albañiles de la ciudad de Valencia, ofreciendo datos y documentos inéditos sobre sus vidas y quehaceres profesionales. Morphology-based measurement of activation time in human atrial fibrillation

The measurement of the activation time is crucial to allow the correct automatic analysis and classification of intracardiac electrograms recorded in the human atria during atrial fibrillation (AF). This study proposes a method which accounts for the morphology of bipolar signals. After ventricular artifact removal and activation wave recognition, the fiducial point of the activation wave was set at its local barycentre (LB). Medical personnel face many difficulties when diagnosing ventricular fibrillation (VF). Its correct diagnosis allows to decide the right medical treatment and, therefore, it is essential to tell it apart adequately from ventricular tachycardia (VT) and other arrhythmias. If the required therapy is not appropriate, the personnel could cause serious injuries or even induce VF. In this work, a diagnosis automatic system for the detection of VF through feature extraction was developed. Emerging brominated flame retardants and dechlorane-related compounds in European eels (Anguilla anguilla) from Latvian lakes

Abstract Fifteen halogenated flame retardants (HFRs) including seven emerging brominated flame retardants (EBFRs) and eight dechlorane-related compounds (DRCs) were analyzed in eels (Anguilla anguilla) sampled from five Latvian lakes. Out of the seven EBFRs, hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD) and decabromodiphenyl ethane (DBDPE) were found in eels in quantifiable concentrations, up to 6.58 and 33.0 ng g−1 lipid weight (l.w.), respectively. The mean total concentration of DRCs (∑DRC) in the samples was 0.62 ng g−1 l.w. and the geographical distribution of DRC contamination was nearly uniform among the selected lakes.
