To determine the safety of the ultrasound contrast agent Albunex, its influence on right and left heart haemodynamics in patients with pulmonary artery hypertension or left heart failure was assessed after intravenous injection. Clinical predictors of unstable coronary lesion morphology.

We evaluated prospectively clinical and angiographic data in 400 patients, 200 with unstable and 200 with stable angina in order to determine which clinical markers could reliably predict unstable coronary artery lesions. Comparison of the angiogram of 200 patients with unstable and 200 with stable angina revealed a high-grade lesion (42% vs 23%, P < 0.0001), complex lesion morphology (49% vs 20%, P < 0.0001) and thrombus-containing lesions (7% vs 1%, P = 0.006) as typical findings in patients with unstable angina. SUMMARY The anti-arrhythmic activity of dehydrobenzperidol (DBP) was studied during halothane anaesthesia in dogs. Arrhythmias were provoked by single intravenous injections of catecholamines. Two groups of dogs were studied. One received norepinephrine and the odier epinephrine. The dose just sufficient to initiate arrirythmias was defined as the “threshold”. Electrocardiogram, blood pressure and heart rate were monitored. The principal findings were:— 1 The dog heart was “sensitized” to epinephrine and norepinephrine by halothane. 2 DBP did have an anti-arrhydimic action. Twelve patients with a new complete bundle branch block after coronary artery bypass grafting underwent transoesophageal echocardiography (TEE). The results of TEE were compared with the pre-operative ventriculography, CK-MB isoenzyme time-release curves and clinical course. Abstract The mismatch negativity (MMN) component of event-related potentials (ERPs), a measure of passive change detection, is suggested to develop early in comparison to other ERP components, and an MMN-like response has been measured even from preterm infants. The MMN response in adults is negative in polarity at about 150–200 ms. However, the response measured in a typical MMN paradigm can also be markedly different in newborns, even opposite in polarity. This has been suggested to be related to maturational factors.
