Some Remarks about Product Spaces

2018

Summary This article covers some technical aspects about the product topology which are usually not given much of a thought in mathematics and standard literature like [7] and [6], not even by Bourbaki in [4]. Let {Ti}i∈I be a family of topological spaces. The prebasis of the product space T = ∏ i∈I Ti is defined in [5] as the set of all π −1 i (V) with i ∈ I and V open in Ti . Here it is shown that the basis generated by this prebasis consists exactly of the sets ∏ i∈I Vi with Vi open in Ti and for all but finitely many i ∈ I holds Vi = Ti . Given I = {a} we have T ≅ Ta , given I = {a, b} with a≠ b we have T ≅ Ta ×Tb . Given another family of topological spaces {Si}i∈I such that Si ≅ Ti fo…

Firms’ distance to the European productivity frontier

2022

AbstractIn this article we explore the factors contributing to reduce the distance of laggard firms to the European frontier, focusing on institutional factors. To characterize Total Factor Productivity frontier firms within industries for the European Union we use firm level data from AMADEUS for the period 2003–2014. Our findings provide evidence on the importance of governance quality and easiness in getting credit in explaining the distance of laggard firms to the European productivity frontier. We also find that other factors at the country level -tertiary education, R&D stock, and trade openness- and at the firm level -size, age, and capital-intensity- influence the distance of la…

IDENTIFICATION AND QUANTIFICATION OF PHENOLIC COMPOUNDS FROM RED GRAPE POMACE

2018

The wine industry generates a great amount of waste every year, thus its valorization is of most importance. This study uses red, fermented pomace from Cabernet Sauvignon and Feteasca Neagra cultivars. The phenolic compounds were extracted using four different extractions and the content of total polyphenols was determined using a spectrophotometrical method. Several phenolic compounds were analyzed using an HPLC method. The Cabernet Sauvignon pomace had the highest content of total polyphenols and total phenolic compounds analyzed and of quercetin, rutin, ferulic acid and resveratrol, while the Feteasca Neagra pomace had the highest content of gallic acid, syringic acid, cinamic acid and (…

2020

Współczesne media cyfrowe wyzwalają aktywność użytkowników Internetu współtworzących dyskurs Online sprzyjający konstruowaniu wspólnotowej tożsamości. Szczególnie wyraźnie obserwujemy to w funkcjonowaniu w przestrzeni wirtualnej współczesnych diaspor narodowych i etnicznych, którym nowe media stworzyły warunki do dyskusji i dialogu, wspomagające ponowną integrację i samoidentyfikację.

TRADITIONAL PRODUCTS AND THEIR ROLE IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF SMES

2012

In the past years, the role of traditional products in the European economy has greatly increased, firstly through the supply of essential products and services for the local communities, but also through the creation of new work places in all the EU countries, including Romania. 99,1% of traditional products are being produced in our country in small and micro-enterprises, with a small number of employees, and which use traditional recipes, passed down from generation to generation - and the secret of which is kept strictly within the family. This paper aims to demonstrate the importance of developing these small businesses which produce and sell traditional products in Romania, and to ana…

Three-dimensional core-collapse supernovae with complex magnetic structures: I. Explosion dynamics

2021

Magnetic fields can play a major role in the dynamics of outstanding explosions associated to violent events such as GRBs and hypernovae, since they provide a natural mechanism to harness the rotational energy of the central proto-neutron star and power relativistic jets through the stellar progenitor. As the structure of such fields is quite uncertain, most numerical models of MHD-driven core-collapse supernovae consider an aligned dipole as initial magnetic field, while the field's morphology can actually be much more complex. We present three-dimensional simulations of core-collapse supernovae with more realistic magnetic structures, such as quadrupolar fields and, for the first time, an…

The impact of non-dipolar magnetic fields in core-collapse supernovae

2019

The magnetic field is believed to play an important role in at least some core-collapse supernovae if its magnitude reaches $10^{15}\,\rm{G}$, which is a typical value for a magnetar. In the presence of fast rotation, such a strong magnetic field can drive powerful jet-like explosions if it has the large-scale coherence of a dipole. The topology of the magnetic field is, however, probably much more complex with strong multipolar and small-scale components and the consequences for the explosion are so far unclear. We investigate the effects of the magnetic field topology on the dynamics of core-collapse supernovae and the properties of forming proto-neutron star (PNS) by comparing pre-collap…
