Figueroles d'Alcalatén. Balls i costums
1999
Registered nurses' clinical reasoning in home healthcare clinical practice: A think-aloud study with protocol analysis.
2016
Abstract Background The home healthcare context can be unpredictable and complex, and requires registered nurses with a high level of clinical reasoning skills and professional autonomy. Thus, additional knowledge about registered nurses' clinical reasoning performance during patient home care is required. Objectives The aim of this study is to describe the cognitive processes and thinking strategies used by recently graduated registered nurses while caring for patients in home healthcare clinical practice. Design An exploratory qualitative think-aloud design with protocol analysis was used. Settings Home healthcare visits to patients with stroke, diabetes, and chronic obstructive pulmonary…
Trust-aware RBAC
2012
Published version of a chapter in the book: Computer Network Security. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-642-33704-8_9 In this paper we propose a trust-aware enhancement of RBAC (TA-RBAC) that takes trustworthiness of users into consideration explicitly before granting access. We assume that each role in the framework is associated with an expression that describe trustworthiness of subjects required to be able to activate the role, and each subject (user) has assigned trustworthiness level in the system. By adding trustworthiness constraints to roles we enhance system, for example, with more flexible ability to delegate roles, to control reading/updating…
Relationships between burnout and role ambiguity, role conflict and employee absenteeism among health workers
2014
The aim of this research was to analyze the influence of some psychosocial risk factors in the development of burnout and to analyze the influence of this phenomenon on employee absenteeism. The study sample included 142 health care workers. The data analysis included descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression models. The results confirmed the influence of role ambiguity and role conflict on burnout [F (2.139) = 26.720; p < .001], but the influence of burnout on employee absenteeism was not confirmed. However, a significant and positive relationship has been shown between burnout and employee absenteeism (β = 0.197; p < .05). In conclusion, the findings of this study support the …
Photo‐Induced Chemiluminometric Determination of Acrolein in a Multicommutation Flow Assembly
2007
Abstract This paper deals with the determination of acrolein based on a strategy provided with a sensitive detection, the chemiluminescence; a “clean chemical” analyte treatment, the on‐line UV‐irradiation; and, a simple and quick automated system, the emergent multicommutation continuous‐flow methodology. The pesticide solution is irradiated (stopped‐flow) for 30 s; then, the resulting solution is introduced to the flow‐cell after being alternated with segments of the stream formed by potassium permanganate in strong acid solution and ethanol segments. The calibration range, from 1 to 1 mg l−1, resulted in a linear behavior over the range 5–100 µg l−1 and fitting the linear equation: I=75.…
Microwave-assisted saponification of animal greases for cholesterol determination
1998
Abstract An alternative method for the hydrolysis of cholesterol esters in animal grease samples has been developed. The method consists of the microwave-assisted treatment of 4 g of animal fat or oil with 40 ml of an ethanolic KOH solution inside a 115 ml closed reactor in which samples were irradiated for 2.5 min at 50% power level of an exit power of 700 W. After extraction with petroleum ether and dissolution of the unsaponifiables in toluene, total cholesterol was determined spectrophotometrically by using p-anisidine as a test reagent of the enzymatic reaction of cholesterol through a bienzymic reactor in which cholesterol oxidase and horseradish peroxidase were noncovalently immobili…
Contributions to the analysis of organic xenobiotics in fish
1995
For the residue-analysis of fish samples, a method has been developed to separate the medium polar triazines and acetamides together with lipophilic xenobiotics (organochlorine pesticides, PCBs and octachlorostyrene) from fish tissue. The detection limits of the analytes are mostly within the ppt-range (ng/kg fillet) and vary between 40 and 1050 ng/kg fillet of fish. Their recoveries range from 75 to 108%, spiked at 1.5 μg/kg. The substances are extracted with a mixture of petroleum ether/ethylacetate (2:1) using a soxhlet apparatus. Subsequently, the lipids in the sample extracts are reduced to 0.4% by gel chromatography. A 5 g silica gel clean-up separates the analytes according to their …
Mechanical and electrophysiological effects of cromakalim on the human urinary bladder.
1994
The effects of cromakalim on spontaneous and induced mechanical activity of human detrusor muscle were investigated in vitro. Cromakalim produces a concentration-related decrease of spontaneous as well as carbachol- and K(+)-evoked contractions. This is the first study to utilize the patch clamp technique to elucidate the mechanism of action of cromakalim on human detrusor cells. Cromakalim hyperpolarizes the detrusor cells by increasing the net outward current which is most likely carried by potassium ions. In the human urinary bladder, this effect is mediated by a glibenclamide-sensitive potassium channel, as glibenclamide is able to diminish the relaxant effect of cromakalim and to preve…
Factors associated with early recurrence at the first evaluation of patients with transient ischemic attack.
2014
Abstract We aimed to identify factors easily collected at admission in patients with transient ischemic attack (TIA) that were associated with early recurrence, so as to guide clinicians’ decision-making about hospitalization in routine practice. From September 2011 to January 2013, all TIA patients who were referred to the University Hospital of Dijon, France, were identified. Vascular risk factors and clinical information were collected. The etiology of the TIA was defined according to the results of complementary examinations performed at admission as follows: large artery atherosclerosis (LAA-TIA) TIA, TIA due to atrial fibrillation (AF-TIA), other causes, and undetermined TIA. Logistic…
