The work is presented as a reading tool aimed at analysing the relationship between signifier and signified in the animal metaphors in the orations of Libanius of Antioch. Greek man in animals isolated psychological manifestations in which he recognised his own. A prominent place was occupied by animals 'symbolic' of positive or negative qualities. Several such symbolic figures appear in Libanius' writing: the wolf is an animal-symbol, which emerges above all other animal metaphors due to the variability of its referents (from the governor to members of the claque) .

This paper deals with coins in circulation in Roman Spain during the Imperial Period (I-IV cent. AD). New archaeological data and hoards indicate that coins survived and remained in use much longer than the periods into which they are traditionally grouped according to the date of minting. During this period the coins used in ancient Spain proceeded entirely from abroad reflecting the vicissitudes of Roman state production, with some notable provincial and urban characteristics.

Els dos primers volums de l’obra L’arquitectura romànica a Catalunya de Josep Puig i Cadafalch constitueixen la primera gran síntesi sobre l’arqueologia romana i l’antiguitat tardana de les terres de llengua catalana. Tot i que l’arqueologia valenciana no és gaire important en el conjunt de l’obra, s’hi troba ben representada a través de les principals ciutats i monuments de l’època. En aquesta comunicació analitzem la informació i les fonts que l’autor inclou sobre l’arqueologia valenciana. L’anàlisi d’aquestes dades ens permet valorar el nivell de coneixement que en tenia i avançar en la recerca de les relacions entre els estudiosos catalans i valencians. The reception of the image of the Augustae in Greece allows us to evaluate the different ways of integrating the imperial power in the local culture, religion, and society, answering to “central” stimuli through an active reinterpretation of the official models in accordance with the local agencies. In analogy with the main trends recognized by D. Nel 2012 è stato pubblicato il frammento epigrafico di una lettera dell'imperatore Adriano alla città di Alicarnasso in Caria (AE 2012, 1550). Gli autori presentano alcune riflessioni sulla cronologia, sui contenuti superstiti e sulla cornice culturale di questo interessante, seppur lacunoso, documento. L'analisi della titolatura imperiale adrianea permette di affermare che la lettera è stata scritta tra il 128 e il 135, come risposta a una petizione di Alicarnasso. Si ipotizza che la città fosse stata danneggiata nel 128 da un terremoto, che avrebbe colpito anche Rodi, Astypalaia e altre località costiere della provincia Asia.
