Cyril of Jerusalem, the author of the Catechesis delivered to the catechumens and the newly baptized, gave the teachings of Jesus Christ on the basis of the Symbol in force in Jerusalem, and above all on the basis of the Holy Scriptures. He readily referred to the books of the Old and New Testaments, quoting literal citations or paraphrasing individual biblical ideas. Among the frequently quoted biblical books is also the St. Paul’s Epistle to the Romans, which was used by Cyril almost 40 times. An asymmetric organocatalytic domino oxa-Michael/1,6-addition reaction of ortho-hydroxyphenyl-substituted para-quinone methides and isatin-derived enoates has been developed. In the presence of 5 mol % of a bifunctional thiourea organocatalyst, this scalable domino reaction affords 4-phenyl-substituted chromans bearing spiro-connected oxindole scaffolds and three adjacent stereogenic centers in good to excellent yields (up to 98 %) and with very high stereoselectivities (up to >20:1 d.r., >99 % ee).

The claw crane—an arcade game that invites its players to remotely grab a prize with a “claw”—has undergone a long process of development from an eye-catching “steam shovel” to a calculated gambling machine across amusement arcades, train stations, and traveling carnivals. Recently, the claw crane has become a common transmedia object in various consumer outlets around the world, serving today’s “kidults” who are willing to play and be playful with toys as grownups. Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on selvittää terrorismin vastaisen sodan poliittinen merkitys, jota etsitään Tony Blairin pitämistä puheista syyskuun yhdennentoista terroristiiskujen ja Afganistanin sodan välisenä aikana. Poliittisena perspektiivinä on hyödynnetty saksalaisen poliittisen teoreetikon Carl Schmittin (1888–1985) määritelmää poliittisesta ystävä/ vihollinen –erotteluna, johon sisältyy sodan mahdollisuus. Tämän lisäksi tutkimuksessa on sovellettu Schmittin käsitystä konkreettisesta järjestyksestä, joka koostuu relatiivisen homogeenisyyden jakavista poliittisista entiteeteistä, ja partisaanista, joka tarjoaa implisiittisen määritelmän terroristista.
