Bipolar disorders and Rorschach: State of the art

2010

International audience; This article is a review of the literature concerning the use of the Rorschach test in the context of bipolar disorders. Even though the first research dates back to the origin of the test, very few studies have been conducted so far. The known research mostly concerns: the description of the psychological functioning of bipolar patients throughout the different phases of the illness, the comparison with other psychopathological designs in order to set up a differential diagnosis (unipolar disorders, schizophrenic disorders, schizoaffective disorders) and to seek endophenotypes. This article aims at summarizing the findings of these studies and at discussing their me…

Concensus Rorschach interaction patterns of families with an asthmatic child

1987

This paper reports a study of interaction in families with a child suffering from bronchial asthma. Eighteen families, subdivided into two groups according to the severity of the child's illness, were given the Consensus Rorschach following Willi's procedure. Quantitative assessments of family members on cognitive-affective functioning and social interaction were obtained. Factor analysis of quantitative scores revealed diversified interactional strategies among family member groups. Families as wholes varied as to patterns of cross-generational alliances and/or domination of different family members and could be clustered into four interactional pattern groups. There was no correlation bet…

Predicting the working alliance over the course of long-term psychodynamic psychotherapy with the Rorschach Ego Impairment Index, self-reported defen…

2021

Better therapeutic alliances are known to predict better treatment outcomes, but little knowledge still exists on the patient characteristics that lead to better alliances. In a sample of 128 outpatients assigned to long-term psychodynamic psychotherapy and suffering from mood and/or anxiety disorder, this study evaluated how the alliance, measured using the Working Alliance Inventory (WAI), is predicted by three different measures for assessing psychological resources and vulnerabilities: the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale—Revised (WAIS–R), the Defense Style Questionnaire (DSQ), and the Rorschach-based Ego Impairment Index (EII-2). All the three measures showed some ability to predict t…

Rorschach Characteristics and Comparison of First-Episode Psychotic Patients in Finland and Spain

2004

Communication Deviance in parents of families with adoptees at a high or low risk of schizophrenia-spectrum disorders and its associations with attri…

2009

Communication Deviance (CD) in rearing parents is a known indicator of a psychopathology risk in the offspring, but the direction of the effects of these two factors on each other has remained an unresolved question. The purpose of the present study was to clarify this issue by assessing the relationship of CD in adoptive parents with certain attributes of the adoptee and adoptive parents themselves. The subjects were 109 adoptees at a high or low risk of schizophrenia-spectrum disorders and their adoptive parents. Communication Deviance was measured in individual, spouse and family Rorschach situations. Thought disorders in the adoptees were assessed using the Thought Disorder Index. The v…
