Experimental study on the influence of controller firmware on multirotor actuator dynamics

In this paper the dynamic response of a propeller actuator commonly used in hobby unmanned aerial vehicles is studied experimentally. It is shown that the choice of electronic speed controller firmware has a significant effect on the overall actuator dynamics. Six different scenarios are tested: 1+2) Rising/falling step response with the standard firmware of the Hobbyking F30a, 3+4) Rising/falling step response with firmware from Simon Kirby/GitHub and 5+6) Rising/falling step response with firmware from Simon Kirby/GitHub including complementary Pulse-Width-Modulation (PWM) switching. Sensorless variable speed single-phase induction motor drive system

It is usual find single-phase induction motor (SPIM) in several house, office, shopping, farm, and industry applications, which are become each time more sophisticated and requiring variable speed drives. Considering the low cost of this machine, the adoption of sensorless speed control is the more reasonable option for SPIM drives. This paper presents a proposal for sensorless variable speed SPIM drive based on direct rotor field orientation techniques. A DSP-Based Resolver-To-Digital Converter for High-Performance Electrical Drive Applications

2016

This paper presents a low cost, simple, and highly accurate resolver-to-digital converter (RDC) for electrical drive applications based on an integrated software approach, thus allowing a significant reduction of hardware components count with significant improvements in terms of reliability, reduction of fault rate, and susceptibility to electromagnetic interference (EMI). Particular attention has been addressed to cost which is 25% off over conventional RDC. Simulations and experimental tests confirm the high quality of the proposed system.

Nonlinear analysis of cylindrical and conical hysteretic whirl motions in rotor-dynamics

Abstract The internal friction of a rotor–shaft-support system is mainly due to the shaft structural hysteresis and to some possible shrink-fit release of the assembly. The experimentation points out the destabilizing effect of the internal friction in the over-critical rotor running. Nevertheless, this detrimental influence may be efficiently counterbalanced by other external dissipative sources located in the supports or by a proper anisotropic configuration of the support stiffness. Broken rotor bars detection via Park's vector approach based on ANFIS

Many attempts have been made on fault diagnosis of induction motors based on frequency and time domain analysis of stator current. In this paper, first the Park's vector transformation and frequency analysis for fault detection of induction motors are introduced. Then a smart approach using Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) is proposed. This approach uses the time domain features derived from the Park's vector transformation of stator current. Slotted Blades Savonius Wind Turbine Analysis by CFD

In this paper a new bucket configuration for a Savonius wind generator is proposed. Numerical analyses are performed to estimate the performances of the proposed configuration by means of the commercial code COMSOL Multiphysics® with respect to Savonius wind turbine with overlap only. Parametric analyses are performed, for a fixed overlap ratio, by varying the slot position; the results show that for slot positioned near the blade root, the Savonius rotor improves performances at low tip speed ratio, evidencing a better starting torque. Braking procedure analysis of a pegs-wing ventilated disk brake rotor

2006

Fade test results of a ventilated disk brake rotor with pegs-wing performed by means of an inertia dynamometer, consisting of 14 repeated brake applications from an initial brake speed of 160 km/h down to 0 km/h, with constant deceleration are shown. The first brake application test results are compared to the FEM numerical predictions with MSC Visual Nastran on the entire disk. These conform well to the experimental data, although numerical thermal field is slightly higher than the experimental one. Besides, ventilated disk brake rotor shows great dimensional stability and the ability to dissipate a great amount of thermal flow.

Speed Control of a two-Degrees of Freedom Induction Motor with Rotor Helical Motion for Industrial Applications

This paper describes the realization of a two-degrees of freedom induction motor prototype with rotor helical motion, suitable for several industrial applications as grinders, augers, drilling and milling spindles, robotic arms and drives for medical tools and prostheses. During the braking phase, the heat produced by friction between pads and disc cannot be entirely dissipated. Consequently, the brake disc, especially if very hard braking occur, can accumulate large amounts of heat in a short time so producing high gradients of temperature on it.
