The article presents an almost totally forgotten poet, playwright, November Uprising fighter and émigré - Tomasz August Olizarowski. Having carried out a research in the Polish Library in Paris, the author delves into the life and work of Olizarowski, focusing on his existing manuscripts and assessing the aesthetic value of his selected works. Particularly, the analysis concentrates on Ukrainian themes, as well as melancholy, macabre, grotesque and mysticism.
Measurement of θ13 in Double Chooz using neutron captures on hydrogen with novel background rejection techniques

The Double Chooz collaboration presents a measurement of the neutrino mixing angle θ[subscript 13] using reactor [bar over ν[subscript e]] observed via the inverse beta decay reaction in which the neutron is captured on hydrogen. This measurement is based on 462.72 live days data, approximately twice as much data as in the previous such analysis, collected with a detector positioned at an average distance of 1050 m from two reactor cores. Several novel techniques have been developed to achieve significant reductions of the backgrounds and systematic uncertainties. A better understanding of the water and energy cycles at climate scale in the Third Pole Environment is essential for assessing and understanding the causes of changes in the cryosphere and hydrosphere in relation to changes of plateau atmosphere in the Asian monsoon system and for predicting the possible changes in water resources in South and East Asia. Corporate board and default risk of financial firms

This paper analyses the impact of corporate board structure on default risk of European banking firms. We focus on four core aspects of boards that have been addressed in Directive 2013/36/ EU to strengthen the corporate governance of banks: the size of boards, their independence, the participation of female directors and CEO duality. We employ panel data analysis to study the 109 European listed banks between 2002 and 2019. Default risk is estimated by Merton’s (1974) distance to default. Bakalaura darba temats ir “Pilsoņu likumdošanas digitālās platformas ManaBalss.lv izvērtējums”. Autors ar šī pētījuma mērķi vēlas noskaidrot, kāds ir bijis iemesls šādas kolektīvās inteliģences platformas izveidei un to, vai platforma ir sasniegusi savu dibināšanas mērķi. Darba gaitā tika noskaidrots, kas ir kolektīvā inteliģence un tās sniegtās iespējas. Ar interviju palīdzību, tika veikts ManaBalss.lv platformas izvērtējums – tās mērķis, vai mērķis ir sasniegts, vai platforma veicina pilsoņu līdzdalību demokrātiskajos procesos. Darba gaitā izvirzītā hipotēze apstiprinājās – kolektīvās inteliģences platforma ManaBalss.lv ir sasniegusi savus mērķus.

Pētījumā pamatā tiek analizētas civiltiesiskās attiecības, kas saistītas ar bankas pakalpojumu - darījuma konts. Pēdējais tiek izmantots darījumu norēķinu izpildes nodrošināšanai. Latvijas normatīvajos aktos nav paredzēts tiešs tiesisko attiecību sakarā ar darījuma kontu regulējums. Attiecīgi nav noteikta tāda konta piederība, naudas līdzekļu statuss, strīda gadījumā piemērojamas tiesību normas. Nav judikatūras, arī zinātnisku pētījumu, kas identificētu šī institūta problēmjautājumus Latvijā. Autora ieskatā, darījuma konta attiecību tiešs normatīvais regulējums ir nepieciešams, lai nodrošinātu atbilstošu to dalībnieku interešu aizsardzību.
