The interplay between a naturalistic understanding of social origins and the vision of the ruler as God’s representative on earth is a major aspect of medieval and early modern Islamic political discourse. The Geometry of a Domed Architecture: A Stately Example of Kārbandi at Bagh-e Dolat Abad in Yazd

This paper analyses the kārbandi of the Hashti pavilion at Bagh-e-Dolat Abad in Yazd. Kārbandi is a spatial system obtained through the projection of a star-shaped drawing onto a curved surface. It is characterised by a complex use of geometry and repetitive symmetry. The analysis of its geometrical aspects contributes to an understanding of the traditional rules underlying the original design. The kārbandi of the octagonal vestibule of the Hashti pavilion consists of a complex roof system that completes the octagonal volume of the room below; its intrados presents a pattern of interlocking ribbed arches. Partiendo de las fuentes filosoficas y literarias, la Prudencia es considerada la principal virtud que debe poseer todo gobernante. Esta relacion propicio la interaccion visual entre la figura del gobernante y la imagen de la Prudencia. De este modo, en ocasiones, la Prudencia, adquiere atributos propios del gobernante, asi como este adquiere los de la Prudencia, retratandose incluso como esta virtud.

Liturgiczna modlitwa Kościoła powinna obejmować wszystkie przestrzenie życia człowieka wierzącego. Nie można jej ograniczać tylko do spraw duchowych, ale należy w nią włączać również istotne faktory społeczne. Podjęta w artykule problematyka dotyczy jednego z nich: modlitwy za ojczyznę i rządzących nią. Po prezentacji terminologii i jej swoistej dewaluacji, zaprezentowano szereg fragmentów liturgicznej modlitwy dwóch tradycji wschodnich (bizantyjskiej i syroorientalnej), które jednoznacznie wskazują, że zanoszone za ojczyznę, naród, władzę i wojsko modlitwy w intuicji Wschodu nie są jedynie wyrazem pobożności, ale jawią się jako rzeczywisty imperatyw.
