Arrendaments i parceries. La gestió indirecta de la terra al País Valencià (segles XIV-XV)

2002

In this article, it is studied the market of land lease in the Valentian rural society in the end of the Middle Age. Using notarial sources and court rolls, it is possible to know the economic function that exercised this forms of land management in the agrarian system. The penetration of urban capital through this kind of contracts was always limited. Far from eroding the hegemony of the small peasant farming, leases consolidated this pattern as productive basis of the feudal system.<br><br>En aquest article s'estudia el mercat de cessió de la terra a curt termini en la societat rural valenciana a les darreries de l’Edat Mitjana. Future rural landscapes : the necessary co-evolution between agricultural landscape and energy landscape

2022

This article explores the ongoing transformation process affecting the agricultural and energy landscape. The complexity of the landscape (natural and artificial) in which we live, calls for urgent reflection on how to achieve effective integration between vegetation and the built environment. The landscape has always been subject to mutation. Man and the consequences of his actions have often been the trigger for it. Today we are in a necessary transition phase, especially from an energy point of view. The landscape will change again and this time more quickly because of the urgency imposed by the new policies implemented (European Green Deal, NRRP, etc.). The article emphasises the indisp…

Mediterranean Diet, Sustainability, and Tourism—A Study of the Market’s Demand and Knowledge

2023

Globalization intensified competitiveness among agribusinesses worldwide in recent years. The European Commission focused on enhancing sustainable agriculture and food products’ territorial uniqueness for competing in the international market. The Mediterranean diet (MD) is a model of feeding and lifestyle belonging to the ancient Mediterranean culture, which also embodies a sustainable food system. Therefore, in 2010, UNESCO recognized the MD as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, and Sicily (southern Italy) is its official physical site. Despite its worldwide fame, the notion of the MD runs the risk of being mystified because it is described most often as something that does not cor…

L’agricoltura biologica e lo sviluppo del territorio di qualità: un caso studio siciliano

2012

Farming grows into an intense relationship with the territory; local products are the expression of local culture and environment. Territory itself is an attribute of the goods; at the same time, the consumer becomes a user of the same territory. It is possible to turn on a strategy that considers the territory a source of competitive advantage. Organic farming is paradigmatic of the relationship between agricultural production and the territory that is based on the pursuit of harmonious interaction between human activities and the environment

Sustainable tourism in the rural areas of a Southern Italian region

2012

In the last few years, a significant interest has been observed about all the possible ways rural tourism is carried out, but especially concerning agritourism, which represents the main specific application. Rural tourism is a form of sustainable tourism since its pillar is constituted by both valorisation and conservation of the environmental and territorial situation where economic activity is carried out in tune with identity and culture of local communities. From the official statistical data, it brings out the fact that this economic activity, widely spread in the Italian territory, may provide a significant financial support both to agricultural firms and to the whole economic sector…

L’AGROALIMENTARE TRA GLOBALE E LOCALE: dall’Italian sounding ai mercati storici di Palermo

2014
